Heads up, ferry customers đź‘‹

Our newer ferry vessel, the Black Pearl, will be out of service for annual maintenance over the next two weeks. During this time, the Diamond Harbour Ferry will continue operating using our alternate vessel, the Black Diamond.

The Black Diamond has a lower passenger capacity (around half the size of the Black Pearl), so ferries may fill up more quickly than usual, particularly over the King’s Birthday long weekend when more people are expected to be travelling to and from Diamond Harbour.

Please allow extra time for travel where possible. This temporary reduced capacity will be in place until Friday 5 June. Thanks for your patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.

👀🤗 Are you going to the Crusaders v Blues match at One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha on Friday?

Sort your ride now – book a space on one of our Event Direct shuttle buses for a direct, guaranteed ride - metro.co.nz/eventdirect 🤝

The pre-booked shuttle service will pick eventgoers up from 11 different locations around Christchurch, taking them directly to Latimer Square and Ara, both short walks from the stadium.

We also want to remind our Metro customers that due to road closures for the match, we are expecting delays to our scheduled services on Friday evening. Please plan ahead and allow extra time where possible🙏

Are you travelling with us this weekend? If so, here’s some important info you should know 👇.

One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha is hosting its opening events, Super Round 2026, and Anzac parades and services are taking place over the weekend too. Both sets of events will require road closures, which means almost all Metro services will be detoured. We also anticipate high traffic volumes around the stadium which are likely to cause delays to all services travelling through the central city.

We recommend customers plan ahead and allow extra time if they are travelling on public transport over these days đźšž. To see if a detour will be in place for your service, check its timetable on www.metro.co.nz

🏉Are you going to Super Round 2026 and are yet to lock in your travel plans? Event Direct by Metro still has availability. Event Direct is a pre-booked shuttle bus service giving eventgoers a guaranteed ride from their selected pick-up hub directly to the stadium event precinct and back again after the event. Click here for more details: www.metro.co.nz/eventdirect

👉Just a reminder that our Metro network will operate to normal timetables with no additional capacity this weekend, and routes servicing the Bus Interchange may experience high demand, particularly after large events.
