Inxpress Christchurch Airport International Courier / express freight Services. Import and export. One innovative platform for all your needs. Contact us now!!! This is truely a game changer.

Looking to save your business time, money and hassle when it comes to shipping? The Inxpress system is fantastic and is modelled on the express freight market using tier one carriers such as DHL and Fedex/TNT. DHL has been on the system and working well for years in New Zealand. Fedex/TNT is scheduled to be integrated into the NZ system in Oct 2020. Both carriers have been fully operational in Au

stralia for numerous years. Once TNT has been integrated, the very easy to use system will be able to provide full pricing, shipping and tracking of both carriers on the ONE platform. If this sounds like it would be of benefit to your business, we would love to demo the system to you, and we would provide you with a login where you can sign in 24/7 for pricing, parcel tracking and shipping. This is an advance notice that Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season starts again on 1st September and runs to 30th April 2025. This means MPI has extra requirements for imported cargo from countries that have BMSB populations.

Broadly, the procedures and requirements are the same as last season. This means for our LCL containers from Japan, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Spain, we can only take cargo that is either low risk (eg food) or high risk goods (eg auto parts) that are accompanied by a declaration that the cargo was manufactured indoors and stored indoors prior to export.

Italy is the most risk of infestation and has a separate procedure. All LCL containers need to be treated for BMSB before they load on the ship. The process we use is heat treatment where hot air is circulated around the container until it reaches 60 Deg C. So, cargo that is shipped as LCL needs to be packed in a way that will not be damaged by this process.

Cargo that is transhipped via Singapore or Hong Kong but originate from BSMB countries will be stopped in the transshipment port for treatment.

FCL loads from any of these countries also need to comply:

Albania
Andorra
Armenia
Austria
Azerbaijan
Belgium
Bosnia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bulgaria
Canada
Croatia
Czech Republic
France
Georgia
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Italy
Japan
Kosovo
Liechtenstein
Luxemburg
Macedonia
Moldova
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Russia
Serbia
Slovakia
Spain
Switzerland
Turkey
Ukraine
USA

The procedure is the same as last season. Any risk goods (eg engine parts) will need to have a manufacturers declaration confirming the cargo is new and was produced indoors and stored indoors prior to export. If cargo is not new or stored indoors, it will need to be treated for BMSB by either fumigation or heat treatment.

FCL’s from Italy will all require treatment (either fumigation or heat treatment) unless they are considered sensitive cargo by MPI. Examples of sensitive cargo are food, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.

The other category of cargo to bring to your attention is any goods that need to move in open top containers or flat racks. These are very high risk of BMSB infestation as they are open to the environment. MPI requires all shipments of these container types to be treated for BMSB prior to loading. The MPI window for flat racks and open tops treatment at origin is only 5 days between treatment and loading on a vessel. This is a very small window that requires a lot of planning.

This year we are introducing a BMSB Administration Fee of US$35 per shipment on all LCL and FCL cargo from the USA and Canada to New Zealand and Australia.

If you require any additional information or clarification on the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important Announcement from The Cargo Warehouse (Melbourne)

Please hand this to your Fleet Controller or Manager

The Cargo Warehouse is implementing a new vehicle appointment system (Inbound) to improve the visibility and exchange of information at our facility in Derrimut.

Why are we doing this?
• To improve our operations, reduce waiting times and allow us to provide a more efficient service for both our clients and the transport operators that utilise our Derrimut site.
• To implement a paperless system that will reduce the need for human contact between drivers, staff and customers minimizing the risks during the current Covid-19 pandemic and into the future.

What will this mean for Transport Operators?
Transport carriers can make a ‘Booking’ at www.inboundconnect.com for each line of cargo they wish to pick up (import) or drop-off (export) at The Cargo Warehouse in Derrimut.

To make a ‘Booking’, transport carriers should register an account at www.inboundconnect.com – if you already have an account you do not need to do this as the same account will be used for all facilities that use Inbound.

The process when making a ‘Booking’ will be one booking per line of cargo. There will be no Booking Fee applicable during the implementation. Full details and the business rules associated with this change to the Conditions of Entry at The Cargo Warehouse can be found at www.inboundconnect.com under ‘Site Access Rules’.
The process of completing ‘Bookings’ at The Cargo Warehouse via Inbound and vehicles arriving without a valid Booking will be serviced only after vehicles with Bookings have been serviced.

What should Transport Operators do now?
1. Log on to www.inboundconnect.com and register an account if you do not already have one.
2. Email [email protected] or call 1300 803 873 if you require any assistance in registering an account or using the Booking system at any time.

Congestion in Singapore, the world’s second-busiest container port, has reached a critical level, compounding the shortage of ships and containers.
Data from Linerlytica indicates that containerships have to wait up to seven days to berth in Singapore, recently seeing up to 450,000 teu of vessels in the queue.
And port congestion globally is worsening and has tied up 2m teu of ships, nearly 7% of the fleet, which is lending support to carrier rate hikes.
The bottlenecks at Singapore are mainly due to the diversions caused by the Red Sea crisis and shipping lines skipping the less busy Port Klang in Malaysia. In normal circumstances, ships can berth upon arrival in Singapore, or wait half a day at most.
Linerlytica’s report today says: “The severe congestion has forced some carriers to omit their planned Singapore port calls, which will exacerbate the problem at downstream ports that will have to handle additional volumes. The delays have also resulted in vessel bunching, which is causing spillover congestion and schedule disruptions at downstream ports.”
The consultancy says port congestion is expected to worsen in June, compelling liner operators to secure new containers and commit to chartering ships beyond September.
And ahead of box lines planned rate hikes for 1 June and 15 June, the port congestion is putting significant upward pressure on rates.
Asian ports are the most congested, with ports in South-east Asia accounting for 26% of global bottlenecks, while north-eastern Asian ports make up 23%.

Clean Car Discount Ends 31 December!!

REPEAL OF CLEAN CAR DISCOUNT SCHEME

VIA has been monitoring the progress of legislation to repeal the CCD scheme, and we have been working with the Ministry and the Agency to get clear, relevant, and timely information about this out to the industry.

Today, the Government made the following announcement:

The Clean Car Discount (CCD) is ending on 31 December 2023. To get a rebate, applications for an eligible registered vehicle need to be successfully submitted on the NZTA website by 11:59pm, 31 December 2023.

Apply for a rebate
Clean Car Discount is ending (this link will be live after 2pm)
Key points
1. Clean Car Discount ends on 31/12/2023. No CCD fees or rebates apply to vehicles registered after this date.
2. NZTA cannot pay any rebates after 31 January. There will be no exceptions.
3. Correct applications for rebates for eligible vehicles should submitted as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
4. New VEEEL labels will be available from 1 January and are required to be displayed on the yard or online from 1 January 2024.
5. There is no change to the Clean Car Standard scheme

What else you need to know
Rebates
• The deadline to submit rebate applications is 11:59pm on 31 December 2023. Applicants must ensure all details and required documents (such as proof of bank account, and sale and purchase agreement) are provided with the application to avoid missing out on the rebate payment. Online rebate applications submitted after 11:59pm on 31 December 2023 won’t be accepted. The service will be blocked.
• The Government has determined that the last day that rebates can be paid is 31 January 2024. If an application is incomplete and/or requires follow up, then it’s at risk of missing the payment deadline of 31 January 2023. NZTA can’t pay rebates after 31 January 2024, regardless of cause.
• Only registered parties can apply. Dealer applications must be using the vehicle for business purposes and will need to supply the required documentation, such as the signed statutory declaration, in order for their applications to be processed.
Fees
• Eligible vehicles registered up to and on 31 December 2023 will be required to pay the CCD fee at registration.
• Incorrect registrations completed in December 2023, seeking correction in 2024, will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Refunding of CCD fees won’t be automatic.
• No vehicles will be subject to a CCD fee from 1 January 2024, unless considered a 2023 registration correction.
VEEEL
• From 1 January 2024, vehicles offered for sale on-yard are required to display the new Vehicle Emissions and Energy Economy Label (VEEEL) that no longer shows CCD information. Vehicle online sales listings are also required to be updated by removing CCD information. VEEEL labelling and online data feeds will be updated on 1 January so that the requirements can be met.
• For organisations receiving electronic feeds via API, there will be no changes needed to system interfaces as the CCD fields will still exist but will be empty from 1 January.
Note
• There are no exceptions to the eligibility criteria and timeframes. Shipping or certification delays are not accepted reasons for late applications.
• We are not expecting the fund to be in danger of being exhausted before all rebates are paid by 31 January 2024.
• Common application mistakes to avoid that risk your rebate not being paid:
5.
o No GST number for a business application
o Missing sale and purchase document or bank account evidence
o Supplied application evidence is unreadable or has incomplete or inconsistent information
o People ticking that they are a Public Authority when this is rare and most are not
o The registered party is not the person making the application

We are happy to annouce that Inxpress Christchurch Airport is now a global partner with NZ Couriers. This means as well as our international courier options with DHL and FEDEX, we will be offering a domestic courier using NZ Couriers nationwide network.

As part of the pre-launch, we will be releasing tips and hints to help make the most fo our new partner network.

Todays topic: Packaging Items Correctly.

This topic may not be the most exciting, but it can help you avoid delivery delays, claims, and sending prohibited items.

Avoid damages by packaging correctly

Our delivery network moves hundreds of thousands of parcels each day. We do our very best to handle each item carefully, but it makes our job very difficult if items are not properly packaged for their journey.

3 Steps to correctly packaging your items:
1. Choose the suitable box or pack
2. Pack the item into a box with sufficient packaging material
3. Seal the box up well and label it correctly

Top 5 considerations:
1. Strength and Durability: Reused boxes can degrade over time.
2. Box Size: A box too small has a high risk of contents shattering
3. Inner packaging: Ideal forms of protection include bubble wrap, shredded paper, corrugated cardboard, and polystyrene-type material.
4. Wrap carefully: Create an "H seal" with your packaging tape. The tape should be at least 4cm wide.
5. Keep it visible: Remove any old labels or stickers and ensure the address label is visible.

Auckland has experienced record rainfall over the past couple days with widespread flooding.
A local state of emergency has been declared as flooding swamps the region and MetService warns the most intense rainfall is yet to come.
Driving conditions are heavily impacted with multiple closures across the motorway network.

Further weather warnings are in place across the rest of this week for majority of the North Island and the upper South Island.

Due to this wild weather, there will be some delays to consignments travelling throughout the network.
We will keep you updated as we receive further information.
