Central Otago Flying Club The Central Otago Flying Club is based at the Alexandra airport in sunny Central Otago, New Zealand. We own and operate a Cessna 172P - TFS.

We are a community-based organisation governed by a committee made up entirely of volunteers. Welcome to the COFC page. Interested people and new members are always welcome! A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the AOPA Fly-In at Central Otago Flying Club yesterday.

We had a great turnout, with a good mix of aircraft flying in and plenty of friendly faces joining us for coffee, a BBQ lunch and some good aviation chat.
We were also treated to watching a couple squirrels come and go with film crew - great to see and thank you for the banana cake!

Thanks to everyone who made the trip to Alexandra, and to those who helped out on the day.

It was great to have you all at NZLX — we hope to see you back again soon! 🛩️

We're excited to be hosting a last-minute AOPA Fly-In this Sunday, 2 August 2026, at NZLX and we'd love to see you!

☕ Coffee on arrival
🌭 BBQ lunch from 12:00 pm
💵 Please bring cash for the BBQ lunch.

🛬 Runway information: The grass runway at Alexandra is currently a little rough, so we recommend using the sealed runway where possible.

📝 Please register if you're planning to attend. This will help the club get a good idea of numbers for catering purposes.

From crystal-clear mornings to snow-dusted mountain ranges, winter often brings some of the most spectacular flying conditions and breathtaking views.

We'd love to see Central Otago through your eyes! 📸 If you've captured a favourite winter flying photo or have a memorable winter aviation story, share it in the comments below.

Whether you're an experienced pilot, learning to fly, or simply love aviation, the Central Otago Flying Club is always happy to welcome new faces. What an incredible day we had at the Central Otago Flying Club Open Day yesterday!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success. Community events like this simply wouldn't happen without the support of so many generous people and organisations.

Special thanks to:
🦁 Lions Club of Alexandra for keeping our visitors well fed throughout the day.
☕ Rob's Coffee Grind for serving up excellent coffee.
🏛️ Central Otago District Council for their ongoing support.
