Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,610 m)
Your adventure begins with an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This short flight offers amazing views of the Himalayan mountains. After landing at Lukla Airport (2,860 m), you will meet your trekking crew and begin the trek.
The trail descends gradually through small villages and beautiful forests. You will walk along the Dudh Koshi River and pass several suspension bridges. After a few hours of trekking, you will reach the peaceful village of Phakding where you stay overnight.
Day 2: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
Today you will follow the trail along the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags. The trail enters Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo village.
After lunch, the trek continues with a steep climb toward Namche Bazaar. During clear weather, you may see your first distant view of Mount Everest. Namche Bazaar is the main trading town of the Everest region and a popular place for trekkers. You will stay overnight here.
Day 3: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
This day is important for altitude acclimatization. Instead of trekking higher quickly, you will take a short hike around Namche to help your body adjust to the altitude.
You may hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) for beautiful views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You can also visit the Sherpa Museum and explore local markets. After enjoying the views and learning about Sherpa culture, you return to Namche for overnight stay.
Day 4: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,110 m)
After breakfast, you leave the main Everest Base Camp trail and follow the route toward the Gokyo Valley. The trail climbs gradually above the valley and offers wonderful views of mountains like Thamserku and Ama Dablam.
You will pass small settlements such as Mong La and Phortse Thanga before climbing through rhododendron forests to reach the village of Dole. This quiet village is located in a beautiful alpine setting where you stay overnight.
Day 5: Trek from Dole to Machhermo (4,470 m)
Today the trail continues to climb slowly along the valley. The landscape becomes more open and you can see amazing views of Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world.
The walk is steady but not very difficult. After a few hours of trekking through yak pastures and small settlements, you reach Machhermo village. Here you can also visit a small Himalayan Rescue Association clinic that gives information about altitude sickness.
Day 6: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,790 m)
Today is one of the most exciting days of the trek. The trail climbs gradually toward the beautiful Gokyo Valley. Along the way, you will start to see the famous glacial lakes.
You will pass the first and second Gokyo Lakes before reaching the main village of Gokyo located beside the third lake. The bright turquoise water of the lakes with snow-covered mountains in the background creates an unforgettable view.
Day 7: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) and Explore Gokyo Lakes
Early in the morning you hike to the top of Gokyo Ri (5,357 m), the highest point of this trek. The climb is challenging but the view from the top is truly spectacular.
From Gokyo Ri you can see four of the worldโs highest mountains: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. You can also see the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal.
After enjoying the views and taking photos, you return to Gokyo village and spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful lakes.
Day 8: Trek from Gokyo to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
Today you begin the return journey. The trail follows the same route down the valley through Machhermo and Dole.
Descending is easier and allows you to enjoy the scenery from a different perspective. After a long but rewarding trekking day, you reach Namche Bazaar again where you spend the night.
Day 9: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860 m)
This is the final trekking day of your Everest adventure. The trail descends through forests and villages along the Dudh Koshi River.
You will cross suspension bridges and pass through Monjo and Phakding before reaching Lukla. In the evening you can celebrate the completion of your trek with your guide and trekking team.
Day 10: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m)
In the morning you take an exciting flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu. During the flight you can enjoy your last views of the Himalayas.
After arriving in Kathmandu, your trekking adventure officially ends. You can relax, explore the city, or enjoy some souvenir shopping before your departure.
