Bhadrakali
श्री लुमढी भद्रकाली मन्दिर
Located on the eastern edge of Tudikhel near Shahid Gate, Shree Lumadhi Bhadrakali Temple is one of the most powerful and revered Shaktipiths of the Kathmandu Valley. Known among the Newar community as Lumadhi Ajima (also called Lunmari Ajima), the temple is not just a place of worship—it is believed to be a southern protective energy centre of ancient Kathmandu.

शहीद गेट नजिक टुँडिखेलको पूर्वी किनारमा अवस्थित श्री लुमढी भद्रकाली मन्दिर काठमाडौं उपत्यकाका सबैभन्दा शक्तिशाली र सम्मानित शक्तिपीठहरूमध्ये एक हो। नेवार समुदायमा लुमढी अजिमा (लुनमारी अजिमा पनि भनिन्छ) का नामले चिनिने यो मन्दिर केवल पूजा गर्ने स्थान मात्र होइन—यसलाई प्राचीन काठमाडौंको दक्षिण दिशाको रक्षक शक्ति केन्द्रका रूपमा विश्वास गरिन्छ।.
Origin and Mythological Background

Bhadrakali is regarded as one of the fiercest manifestations of Adi Para Shakti. Ancient Hindu texts such as the Vayu Purana and Mahabharata describe her creation as emerging from the Devi’s wrath after Daksha insulted Lord Shiva during the Ashvamedha Yagya. The Ta**ra Rahasya further describes Bhadrakali rising from the northern face of Lord Shiva (Uttaramnaya Amnaya), blue in colour, three-eyed, and radiating formidable power.

काठमाडौंमा रहेका १८ वटा महा बिहारहरूको अवलोकन गर्ने क्रममा हेरिटेज नेपाल ३६५ यंगालस्थित बज्रशील महाबिहारमा पुगेको छ। “इकु बहल” नामले पनि चिनिने यो बहालको विशाल आँगनमा विभिन्न रूप र शैलीमा निर्मित चैत्य तथा स्तूपहरू अवस्थित छन्। यस बहालभित्र पञ्च बुद्धका मूर्तिहरू तथा विविध लोकैश्वरका आकृतिहरू रहेका छन्, जुन यस बहालका अमूल्य गहना मानिन्छन्। साथै, यहाँ नास द्योको मन्दिर पनि अवस्थित छ। बज्रयान बौद्ध परम्परा अनुसार यस महा बिहारमा कर्मकाण्ड, बिहार पूजा तथा सांस्कृतिक चाडपर्वहरू नियमित रूपमा मनाइन्छन्। यस बहालले नेवार समुदायको धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक तथा ऐतिहासिक पहिचान संरक्षण गर्न महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेलेको छ। साथै, यस महा बिहारको परिसरमा युवाहरूको “यंगाल क्लब” पनि सक्रिय रूपमा सञ्चालनमा रहेको छ।

Musum Bahal has this one inner sanctum folks whisper about, the 12-barse innar, a well that stays locked tight for twelve long years.

People say it ties back to Jamana Gubhaju, the powerful Bajracharya priest known for deep ta***ic practice, and King Pratap Malla, who often sought hidden knowledge, blessings, maybe even protection. Their link isn’t written in neat records, more like… carried in memory and story.

When the door finally opens every twelve years, it’s not a festival for crowds. It’s a ritual, almost secret… Bajracharyas enter, perform ancient rites, wake the old deity inside, and seal it again.

A doorway between the visible valley and the Underworld.

That’s pretty much the heart of it, quiet, mysterious, and still breathing old Kathmandu magic.

Paknajol Ganesh sits near Sorakhutte, just a short walk from the buzz of Thamel. The temple is small, almost hiding from the rush around it, but it carries this steady old presence. Inside, the black Ganesh idol shines softly, with silver touches that catch the sun in strange little flashes.
A mouse and even a mole statue stand in front, like tiny guardians waiting for someone to notice them. People here call him Siddhi Ganesh, and locals stop by at odd hours… quick prayers, small hopes.
It isn’t a grand temple. More like a peaceful corner that somehow calms your chest the moment you step in. You feel this gentle warmth… a sense that things might fall into place after all.

काठमाडौंको मरुटोलमा मरु गणेशको मन्दिर छ । यो गणेशस्थानमा गणेशका थुप्रै मूर्तिहरू छन् । केही मन्दिरभित्र र अन्य बाँकी खुला चौरमा छन् । मरु गणेशलाई हनुमान्ढोका गणेशको स्थान दिइएको छ । राजदरबारमा हुने धार्मिक कार्यमा सम्मानपूर्वक मरु गणेशको पूजा गर्ने चलन लामो समयसम्म चलेको थियो । राजकुमारको पास्नीको समयमा राजकुमारलाई मरु गणेशको दर्शन गर्न ल्याउने चलन थियो । राज्याभिषेकमा पनि राजा–महाराजहरू मरु गणेशको दर्शनमा आउने गर्दथे । यस मन्दिरमा वि.सं. १९०४ सालमा सुरेन्द्रविक्रम शाहको पालामा सुनको छाना हालियो । यो गणेशको स्थापना एघारौं–बाह«ौं शताब्दीतिर भएको मानिन्छ । यो गणेश उपत्यकाका चार गणेशमध्येको एक हो ।

न्हेकंझ्या दरवार
के तपाईलाई थाहा होला कि नेपालमा पहिलो पटक सिसाको झ्याल कहाँ राखिएको थियो? सम्भवत यस प्रश्नको उत्तर कमै ब्यक्तिहरुलाई थाहा होला । राजा भूपतिन्द्र मल्लले सन १६९६ सालमा भक्तपुर दरवार स्क्वायर निर्माण गर्ने क्रममा दुई ठुला सिंहहरु द्वारपालको रुपमा राखेर दरवारको निर्माण गरेका थिए । यसै दरवारको नाम न्हेकंझ्या दरवार हो । यस दरवारको मुल ढोकाको माथी एक झ्याल राखिएको छ । त्यस झ्याल सिसाको काँच र हात्ती दन्तको तोरण राखी निर्माण गरिएको थियो । निकै आकर्षक यस झ्याललाई हेर्न पर्यटकहरुको घुइँचो लाग्थ्यो । वंशावलीहरूमा यसलाइ नेपालको पहिलो सिसा प्रयोग भएको झ्याल भनिन्छ । तलको फोटोको सुरूका दुई चित्र बेलायती डाक्टर Henry Oldfield ले बनाएका थिए जस्मा भूपतिन्द्र मल्लको काँच अझै बाँकी रहेको पुस्ति हुन्छ । तेश्रो फोटो बिसं १९८० तिरकोमा काँच नभएपनि हात्ती दन्तको तोरण थोरै भाग भएनि बाँकी थियो । तर हाल सो स्थानमा उक्त झ्याल हटाएर आँखीझ्याल राखिएको छ ।
हाल याअ दरवारलाई सिंह ध्वाका दरवार भनिन्छ । यस दरवारको मुख्य द्वारमा एक जोडि सिंहको मूर्ती राखेको कारण यस दरवारको नाम सिंह ध्वाका दरवार रहन गएको हो । यसै द्वारमा सन १६९८ मा विशाल नरसिंह र हनुमन्त भैरवको मुर्ती स्थापनाले यस द्वारको सुन्दरता झन धेरै हुन पुग्यो । यहाँ स्थापित नरसिंह बिश्वको उत्कृष्ट ढुङ्गाको कार्य मध्य एक हो । राजा भूपतिन्द्र मल्लले रमणीय मालतीचोकसँगै यो दरवार निर्माण गरेका थिए । उनको नवनिर्मित दरवारको नाम ‘मालातीचोक दरवार’ राखेका थिए, जसलाई स्थानीयले सिंहध्वाका दरवार भनेर सम्बोधन गरेका छन् र यो नाम आजसम्म कायम छ । सन १९३४ मा गएको भुकम्पले यो दरवारमा ठूलो क्षति पुर्याएको थियो जसले गर्दा यस दरवारले आफ्नो मौलिक स्वरुप गुमाउन पुगे । तत्कालीन समयमा देशमा राणा शासन भएको कारण यस दरवारको पुन: निर्माण गर्दा यसको स्वरुप पनि राणा दरवार जस्तो हुन पुगेको थियो । हाल यसै दरवारमा राष्ट्रिय कला संग्राहलय राखिएको छ ।
