Climbers attempting Everest this season will be subject to revised mandatory costs:
๐™‹๐™š๐™ง๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฉ ๐™๐™ค๐™ฎ๐™–๐™ก๐™ฉ๐™ฎ: Increased to USD 15,000 per foreign climber
๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ฒ (๐—จ๐—ฆ๐—— ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ): Supports the vital work of the SPCC โ€œIcefall Doctors,โ€ responsible for maintaining ladders and fixed lines through the Khumbu Icefall. All operators are required to complete payments by the end of April.
๐™๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™š-๐™๐™ž๐™ญ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™๐™š๐™š (๐™๐™Ž๐˜ฟ 200): Managed directly by the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal (EOAN), covering route fixing from Camp II to the summit by a dedicated professional team.

Environmental measures have been further reinforced:
The existing 8kg mandatory waste return rule remains in place; however, climbers must now ensure that at least 2kg of waste is collected from above Camp II, targeting high-altitude cleanup.
SPCC personnel will be stationed at Camp II to monitor, verify, and weigh returned waste.
The use of personal human waste bags is no longer permitted. All climbers must use official SPCC-issued WAG bags, which include gelling agents for safe containment. Each bag is registered and must be returned and accounted for.

The backbone of every spring climbing season on the Nepali side of Mount Everest is the Icefall Doctors, a highly specialised Sherpa team responsible for establishing and maintaining the entire fixed route through the most hazardous section of the mountain.

On Monday, 02 March 2026, the Icefall Doctors officially departed from Namche Bazaar toward Everest Base Camp, marking the operational start of the Everest Spring 2026 season.
Upon arrival at Base Camp, the team will first undertake a mandatory refresher and safety training programme at the Khumbu Climbing Center, under the supervision of certified local instructors. This training focuses on up-to-date crevasse rescue systems, advanced fixed-rope installations, ladder anchoring techniques, and risk management in a rapidly changing glacial environment.

In the coming days, the team will begin systematic reconnaissance of the route through the Khumbu Icefall and into the Western Cwm. For the 2026 season, aerial drones will again be used as a key planning tool to assess crevasse patterns, ice movement, serac exposure and potential collapse zones before any ground installation begins. This allows the route planners to identify safer corridors and reduce unnecessary exposure for the workforce.
If conditions remain stable, full route construction is expected to commence around 16 March 2026.

Unlike a normal fixed-rope team, the Icefall Doctors maintain this route for the entire season. The Khumbu Icefall moves by several metres every day, meaning ladders, anchors, and rope lines must be constantly inspected, repositioned, and rebuilt to keep the route passable for all expeditions.

Once completed, this single corridor through the Icefall will serve every commercial and private expedition operating from the south side of Everest, guiding thousands of individual crossings by climbers, Sherpa staff, and high-altitude workers during the spring season inside Sagarmatha National Park.
The successful and safe installation of this route remains one of the most critical and demanding logistical operations of the entire Everest climbing season.

Our Late Winter Ice Climbing and Everest Base Camp Anniversary Expedition is officially on the move, with the team scheduled to fly to Lukla starting from 12 February 2026. This unique and carefully designed adventure will run for two full weeks in the heart of the Khumbu region, combining technical alpine ice climbing with the legendary journey to Everest Base Camp.

During this special expedition, participants will enjoy multi-pitch climbing on the spectacular Khumbu ice walls, tackling steep frozen cascades, vertical pillars and natural ice features that provide a true alpine classroom for both skill development and high-level adventure. The program is structured to deliver real mountain experience, advanced movement on ice, rope systems, anchor building, and efficient multi-pitch climbing techniques in a high-altitude environment.

The journey also follows the classic and culturally rich Everest Base Camp trekking route, offering unforgettable mountain panoramas of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori and Mount Everest, while passing through traditional Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries and remote Himalayan valleys. Carefully planned acclimatization days allow members to enjoy the region safely and comfortably while maximizing climbing and exploration opportunities.
