Some days on board are a little less about where we’re going, and more about who we’re sharing it with.

This was one of those days last season, when the helm was taken over by a new captain with a lot of fun opinions and a very steady hand 😉

We slowed things down, pointed out islands along the way, and let the day unfold at its own pace.

Days like this don’t need much else.

Some evenings along the Helgeland coast we don’t see another boat all day.

We dropped anchor between the islands while a rain shower moved slowly across the sea. The water turned completely still and the clouds opened just enough for the evening light to break through.

Earlier in the evening we went ashore and picked a little reindeer lichen from the rocks to garnish the scallops we cooked on deck.

This is the part of sailing we love most — finding quiet places that feel completely untouched.

Our youngest crew member!

By the time this photo was taken, she had already sailed most of the Norwegian coast with us.

Her first trip was when she was 12 days old.
Not long after leaving the harbor, a mother and calf orca appeared beside the boat.

A pretty memorable welcome to life at sea!

People sometimes ask if we ever get to relax on Nordvær ourselves .

The honest answer is: not very often.

Most days are spent navigating, maintaining, planning the next anchorage, cooking, and making sure everything runs smoothly for our guests.

But every now and then we get a quiet moment like this — and we’re reminded why we started Nordvær in the first place.

Sharing this coastline with people from around the world is still something we feel very lucky to do.

Nordvær: probably the best food you will ever eat at sea. 💪

We love wowing our guests with culinary creations. That’s why we are continuing to work with the best chefs in Norway to refine the culinary experience on board and create new experiences for repeat customers.

1. Fresh scallops with chive vinaigrette, spicy seaweed mayo, and fried sourdough
2. Reindeer tartar with pickled red onions (from our farm 🌱), horse radish, alpeost, and lichen garnish
3. Fresh sourdough bread with rye
4. pan-fried halibut with mussel sauce, fresh herbs from the onboard garden and cauliflower crudite 🙏

(P.S. This level of cooking is probably our and our family’s favorite side-benefit to this whole project. It’s just so tasty!)
