A WORLD-CLASS MARITIME CLUSTER
Norway is home for an impressive constellation of leading maritime companies and training, research and finance institutions that form one of very few complete maritime clusters in the world. Pioneering maritime technologies for decades in shipping, offshore oil & gas, ocean wind, tourism and fishery, the Blue Maritime cluster of companies has an international pole p
osition in bringing the latest solutions to the maritime global markets. BLUE MARITIME CLUSTER - GLOBAL CENTRE OF EXPERTISE
Due to its leading position and its strong global presence, the cluster was awarded the prestigious status as Global Centre of Expertise (GCE) by the Norwegian government in 2014. GCE is the top level in the Norwegian Innovation Cluster program and a national status awarded by the government to the most global and rapidly growing industry clusters. The GCE BLUE Maritime cluster's objective is to incite and strengthen team-based development activities in the maritime cluster with the aim of increasing the clusters’ dynamism and attractiveness and individual companies’ innovativeness and competitiveness. The innovation company ÅKP AS is host of the cluster administration. GLOBAL PRESENCE - GLOBAL ATTRACTION
The cluster operates globally and its companies and products are known world-wide. While most of the companies of the cluster are home-bread, an increasing number of major international players, such as Kongsberg, Saint-Gobain, Inmarsat, VARD, Fincantieri or Bourbon, are seeking their place in the cluster. A WINNING MIX
The reason? – the cluster’s winning mix of high pace of innovation, prototype orientation, competition, informal communication, cooperation, and unique know-how within the field of advanced marine operations for the global ocean industry.
