Wondering how to get from Kraków Airport to the city centre without spending a fortune on a taxi? 🇵🇱

🚆The train is fast, easy and costs just 20 PLN, roughly £4!

✈️ From Kraków Airport, follow the signs to the train station, which is connected to the terminal by a covered walkway. Take the SKA1 train to Kraków Główny, the city’s main railway station, with the journey taking around 18 minutes.

🎟️ Buy tickets from the machines, online or onboard, with card payments accepted.

💰 There are cheaper buses from Kraków Airport too, but if you want the best combination of price, speed and convenience, I reckon the train is well worth the few extra złoty.

📍 Kraków Główny is right by the Old Town, so once you arrive you can easily walk or jump on a tram to reach your accommodation.

If you’re only paying for one attraction in Ghent, I’d make it the Ghent Belfry 🇧🇪

At 13€, it’s one of my favourite paid things to do in Ghent and the views are seriously worth it 🔔

🏰 This UNESCO-listed medieval tower sits right in the heart of Ghent’s historic centre, with panoramic views across the city’s rooftops, churches and canals from the top.

🛗 And don’t be put off by the 254 steps! You don’t need to climb them all because there’s a lift that takes you most of the way up. You can also stop to see the Belfry’s enormous bells and famous carillon.

💰 Ghent is a brilliant city for budget travellers because there are loads of free things to do, so I’d save your sightseeing budget for the attractions that really deliver. For me, the Ghent Belfry is one of them.

Travelling to Paris? 🇫🇷
Don’t make the mistake of automatically buying the Paris Visite tourist pass 🚇

💰At 30.60€ for one day, it may be far more expensive than you need

🎟️ A single Paris Metro, train or RER journey costs 2.55€, regardless of distance, excluding airport stations. If you’re making up to 4 journeys, individual tickets will be cheaper.

💶 If you’re planning 5 or more journeys in one day, choose the 12.30€ Navigo Day pass for unlimited travel across zones 1 to 5. That’s a saving of 18.30€ compared with a one-day Paris Visite pass.

📱 You can buy tickets and load your Navigo Day pass directly onto a compatible phone using the official Île-de-France Mobilités app, then simply tap your phone at the barriers.

✈️ Just remember that the Navigo Day pass doesn’t include journeys to Orly or Charles de Gaulle airports, so factor that into your Paris transport plans.

Flying from London Luton Airport? ✈️

Here’s a simple Luton Airport train tip that could save you money before you’ve even reached the terminal! 💰

🚆 When booking your train to Luton Airport, don’t select “Luton Airport Parkway” as your final destination. Despite the name, the station isn’t actually at the airport terminal.

🚝 From Luton Airport Parkway, you’ll need to take the Luton DART, the automated shuttle that connects the railway station with London Luton Airport in around 4 minutes.

💷 Buy the Luton DART separately and an adult single ticket costs £4.90. Instead, book your train ticket all the way to “Luton Airport” and the DART connection is included in your journey.

💡 It’s a tiny detail, but an important one if you’re looking for the cheapest and easiest way to get to Luton Airport by train.

Looking for the cheapest way to get from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam city centre? ✈️
💰Skip the expensive taxi and take the direct train for around 5.50€.

🚆 Schiphol Airport train station is directly beneath the terminal at Schiphol Plaza. Simply follow the train signs after collecting your luggage, with no airport shuttle or outdoor trek required.

⏱️ Direct trains from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal take around 15 to 20 minutes and run up to eight times an hour. Amsterdam Centraal puts you within easy walking distance of Dam Square, the canals and the historic city centre.

🎟️ Book your ticket in English through the official Dutch Railways website at NS.nl, use the NS app, or tap your contactless bank card or phone on one of the yellow check-in poles.

💳 If you pay contactlessly, remember to tap out at Amsterdam Centraal using exactly the same card or device. Your physical bank card and the same card in your digital wallet count as different payment methods.

💺At around 5.50€ each way, the train is fast, easy and one of the best Amsterdam budget travel hacks to know before you land.

The Best Athens Day Trip for Under 25€! 🇬🇷

🌇 Athens is incredible, but after a couple of days of ancient ruins, busy streets and eating my body weight in Greek food, I was very ready for some nature and a swim!

💦 Enter Lake Vouliagmeni, a gorgeous natural thermal lake just outside Athens, where the water stays around 25°C and you can spend the afternoon swimming, sunbathing and generally forgetting you’re anywhere near a capital city.

💰 And while a Bolt or Uber from central Athens can cost around 30€ each way, getting to Lake Vouliagmeni by public transport costs just a few euros.

🚇 Take Metro Line 2 south from central Athens to Argyroupoli, then hop on the 122 bus from outside the station towards Vouliagmeni. The whole journey takes around an hour, depending on traffic.

🎟️ Lake Vouliagmeni is open daily from 8am to 8pm. Standard entry was 17€ on weekdays and 19€ at weekends when I visited, with tickets available at the entrance.

🐟 Entry includes swimming in the mineral-rich lake, access to the main deck and a lounger, plus the lake’s famous little fish that will happily nibble at your feet. Free pedicure, anyone?!

⛱️ You can also pay extra for sunbed sets and umbrellas, use lockers, and order food and drinks from the onsite restaurant and bar.

☀️ I kept things budget-friendly with the standard 19€ option, spent another 10€ on drinks, then happily alternated between sunbathing and floating around in that glorious warm water.

🍴 And don’t rush straight back to Athens. Afterwards, walk down towards the coast for dinner at Sardelaki Me Thea, where you can tuck into Greek seafood overlooking the sea. Mine was absolutely delish.

💙 If you’re looking for an easy Athens day trip that combines nature, swimming and a break from sightseeing, Lake Vouliagmeni is definitely one to save.

📌 Save this for your Athens trip and follow for more affordable Greece travel tips.
