Row4Cancer, the Winners, New World Record, and Winners Of The Open Class Of Twac2020!!
Mark Slats and Kai Wiedmer, have brought their boat Maria, a carbon DOR12, save to Antigua after rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2020.
They have broken the World Record for the fastest pair to row across in the Atlantic ocean in 32 days, 22 hours, 13 minutes!
So proud to be a member of this team!

About us

Dutch Ocean Expeditions was created by two men who share a love of the ocean and who got to know each other whilst sailing in the Pacific. Mark Slats and John Schouten sailed separately to the Pacific when they coincidently dropped their anchor next to each other in a bay in French Polynesia. It was there they met, and through the common bond of sailing, a good friendship was born.

When Mark came up with the idea to participate in the 2017 Talisker Atlantic Challange, he asked John to help him with this expedition. This cooperation has proven to be very successful, with Mark rowing a World record in the event. From this success, ideas formed between them to develop and build an ocean rowing boat and to use their experience and expertise to coach other teams. The fact that they had run a successful campaign did not escape the attention of a number of future participants in the TWAC, and the first customers are already registering quickly to take advantage of their proven expertise.

Dick Koopmans, who was also closely involved in the TWAC expedition and Mark’s Golden Globe campaign, is the third partner who rounds out the team. Dick is not only a yacht designer but also a very accomplished racing sailor. His extensive technical knowledge and experience will be of great value to every future venture Dutch Ocean Expeditions will be involved in.
