🌱 The Skretting Gro is a great example of what can be achieved when partners work together to make shipping more sustainable.

As the first vessel in the collaboration between Skretting, Strand Shipping, and Vertom, the Skretting Gro marks an important step towards more sustainable short-sea shipping.

Following her voyage from India, the vessel was equipped in Bremerhaven, Germany, with two impressive VentoFoils, each standing 18 metres tall and designed to harness the power of the wind as an additional source of propulsion.

By combining wind-assisted propulsion with the vessel’s existing power system, we are taking a concrete step towards reducing fuel consumption and emissions, while maintaining the flexibility and efficiency required for modern short-sea shipping.

The Skretting Gro demonstrates that making shipping more sustainable is a journey we cannot undertake alone. It requires collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment across the entire value chain.

A first glimpse of MV Skretting Gro at sea ⚓

These photos show the vessel during her maiden voyage, carrying bulk cargo from Pipavav (India) to Brake (Germany). This voyage marks another important milestone in the collaboration between Skretting, Vertom and Strand Shipping.

Following the successful delivery of the vessel by Chowgule Shipyards in India, Vertom Group is proud to announce the arrival of MV Skretting Gro. As the fourth vessel in Vertom’s innovative series of 6,000 DWT diesel-electric short sea vessels, following MV Vertom Rita, MV Vertom Rian and MV Jill C, MV Skretting Gro represents the next step in Vertom’s fleet renewal programme.

Vertom B.V. and Universal Africa Lines B.V. (UAL) have announced their intention to enter into a strategic combination.

This step brings together two complementary shipping companies, combining Vertom’s strong position in short sea shipping with UAL’s expertise in transatlantic and West Africa trade lanes.

Both Vertom and UAL will continue to operate under their own names and retain their individual identities, while exploring opportunities to further strengthen their services and customer offering.
