The horizon is calling... ⚓

The Tall Ships are on their way to Harlingen! From 3–6 July, the Port of Harlingen will welcome an impressive fleet of Tall Ships from around the world. These ships are more than impressive sailing vessels; they symbolise adventure, teamwork, international friendship, and the next generation of maritime professionals.

For us at JR Shipping Group, shipping is more than an industry - it is a passion. We know that life at sea challenges people, builds confidence and creates memories that last a lifetime. That is why we are proud to support initiatives such as The Tall Ships Races, where young people can experience the maritime world in a truly unique way.

Youth is the future! ⚓

Last Friday, our colleague Lodewijks-Kruit gave a guest lecture at en Logistiek College De Ruyter in Vlissingen, sharing her experiences as a Broker at Shipping & Chartering, part of the JR Shipping Group.

When people think of shipping, they often think of careers at sea. Yet the maritime industry offered a wide range of challenging and rewarding shore-based roles that were essential to keeping this vital sector running 24/7.

Maaike's own career reflected the versatility of our industry. She started her career at sea and later chose to continue her maritime journey ashore. During the guest lecture, she explained how she now uses her seagoing experience in a commercial role, connecting customers, cargoes, and vessels in an international environment.

By sharing her personal story and passion for shipping, Maaike helped students discover the many career opportunities our sector has to offer, both on board and ashore.

At JR Shipping Group, we believe in investing in people, knowledge, and the next generation of maritime professionals. Connecting education with practice remains essential to securing the future of our industry.

Who knows? Perhaps we will meet some of these students again in the future as colleagues, partners, or industry professionals.
