Behind the scenes at AELS. Tonight on Dutch TV!

Recently, AELS had the opportunity to facilitate a filming day for the KRO-NCRV programme 'BinnensteBuiten'. While our location provided the setting, the spotlight was on Derk-Jan van Heerden, founder of AELS and AETHOS.

AETHOS's mission is to improve the recycling of aircraft materials. As a proud member of this foundation, AELS supports this mission by maximising the reuse and recycling of aircraft parts and materials, giving them a valuable second life wherever possible.

During her visit on the filming day, presenter Marieke Eyskoo explored the world of aircraft dismantling, learning more about what happens when airplanes reach the end of their financial lifetime and the key role played by the circularity of aircraft parts and the recycling of materials.

The TV show will be broadcast tonight (7 April) at 19:00 on NPO2 (Dutch television)!

Giving aircraft parts a second life for such a good cause!

Last weekend, the Ester Fonds Gala took place in support of the Peter Pan Vakantieclub, a wonderful foundation that organizes holidays for young people who can’t easily travel due to illness or difficult circumstances.

To help raise funds, donated two authentic aircraft panels of a Transavia Boeing 737, each with two windows, for the charity auction. The proceeds from all lots in the auction will directly support the Peter Pan team, existing of volunteers, in giving these young people unforgettable travel experiences. During these trips, the focus is not on the illness, but on having fun with others.

We’re proud to contribute to such an inspiring cause!

✈️ From the runway to the r***e stage! 🎭

At AELS, we love seeing aircraft parts been reused in unexpected ways, even outside of the aviation industry.

For the upcoming “Oost West Thuis..?” show by the Hengelose R***e, a local theatre group near AELS in the Netherlands, we donated real Boeing 737 parts, including cabin panels and passenger seats, to help them recreate an aircraft interior for the stage.

This is a perfect example of how reuse of aircraft parts can inspire creativity of communities. We're turning retired aircraft components into something that makes people smile!

The premiere of 'Oost West Thuis..?' is on 30 January 2026 at Schouwburg Hengelo, followed by five performances on 31 January and 1, 4, 5 and 6 February.

We zoeken een CFO die niet alleen cijfers begrijpt, maar ook helpt om onze koers waar te maken.

AELS geeft financieel afgeschreven vliegtuigen letterlijk een tweede leven door onderdelen ervan terug in de luchtvaart te brengen en overige materialen te recyclen. Op die manier werken wij vanaf Twente Airport in Enschede en vanuit ons kantoor in Rotterdam actief aan circulaire luchtvaart.

Wat ga je doen?
Het demonteren gebeurt als het ware via omgekeerde montage, waaraan behoorlijk wat richtlijnen verbonden zijn. Gelukkig doe je dit niet alleen. Je gaat samenwerken met ervaren collega’s die jou alle kneepjes van dit mooie vak gaan leren. Samen met hen zorg je ervoor dat de onderdelen weer terug in de luchtvaart worden gebracht.
