The Art of Flow
***************
Sunday 22 June
1 - 6 pmamsterdam

Leave your ‘smart’ hat at home and get down and dirty. Roll up your sleaves and explore what it’s like to create, just for the pure calm and joyful effect of it. We’ll have various materials to play with. Paint, paper, pastels, watercolors, charcoal.

Let yourself be guided into flow and let your intentions for Summer be embedded into your being.

It will be a fun day, creating and connecting with drinks and bites.

Kind reminder.

You don’t need a ‘valid’ or ‘rational’ excuse to do what makes your soul peaceful. Not for yourself or for others. When you discover what nourishes you from the inside (whether it’s spending time alone, or walking in nature, staring out a window, reading, running or just staying in bed for a day), don’t fall in the trap of needing to explain yourself to be okay with it. It’s not for them to understand 100 % or be okay with it, it’s for you to just do it

In a world that predominantly applauds speed it can be a real trap to need an excuse to find nourishing time that not everyone might understand.

We are organising a new ‘traveling’ event, called The Pause.

It’s literally meant to be a ‘pause’ in your workweek. To slow down, meet and connect with (new) people around a topic, with tea and coffee. Very relaxed and very low key.

Topic # 1: how do we incorporate a slower lifestyle with entrepreneurship.

We all know that having a business, or working freelance, brings with it a new set of challenges. Boundaries, the question of what Free Time means, how to deal with social media and other distractions, etc!

☕️ Friday February10th
☕️ From 10 to 12
☕️ At NJ Space , Amsterdam

We have a few spots left. Would you like to join? DM me or send me an email at [email protected]

This weekend I co-hosted an inspirational session with . We were inspired by ‘village squares’ as you see them in the Mediterranean, Caribbean…and actually all over the world; where people gather in the weekends, to share their stories, worries and support each other however they can. It turned out to be a beautiful session where people that knew nothing of each other opened up and shared, listened and cared. I guided a meditation on Intention… my intention was to make people remember to tune in on the undercurrent and wisdom that everybody always carries with them. Because when you truly live alligned with your deeper intention, it carries you home.

Turns out we’re all struggling with more or less the same things. Comforting thought.

You hardly get to see what’s going on ‘behind the curtain’ but if you intentionally show curiosity and ask the deeper questions, chances are; people will open up. Feeling grateful.

Rest is the conversation about what we love to do and how we love to be.

Rest is the essence of giving and receiving; an act of remembering, imaginatively and intellectually, but also psychologically and physically.

These words by David Whyte resonate, especially now in Winter, when the season calls upon us to remind us to rest.

A new beginning.

This weekend I hope to share with you a whole new series of beautiful programs. I have carefully crafted these programs around the spirit of what this time is calling for; sharing, connection, playfulness, calm and curiosity.

To be continued… 🚀

How are you coping with the last few weeks of the year? To me it feels like I am merely surviving. Either I am working or I am recovering from work. At the moment I am juggling two new jobs. And all new things take up extra energy. Trying to understand, absorb and not jump to conclusions but just letting it sink… and sit. Although I love what I am doing, my body is also telling me that I am pushing it. I am trying to accept that for now this is my reality and that too is okay. But I do find it a struggle. I am making choices. Of being less sociable for the moment, of being less of a good parent and partner for the moment. My focus for now is work, sleep, rest and repeat. And these are conscious choices.

I feel the need to also put this out here because there seems to be a (to me somewhat unrealistic) ideal in the world of self-care and conscious living of huge amounts of free time to linger around, a life where one creates when one loves to, where one is traveling constantly and having the time and space to just ‘be’.

I think it’s wonderful when people manage to organise their lives this way. But it’s also my experience that sometimes there is also priviledges involved that are not for everyone. So to me it is important to be conscious in cultivating unattainable ideals.

Any thoughts? Love, Lisa

Although we’re still relatively overobsessed with ‘doing’, we’re clearly seeing that slowing down, or taking moments to slow down, is becoming normalised and cultivated. Moreover slowing down, slow living, simple living, selfcare; they have become commercialised markets with booming businessess! I myself have been forced to take the long view on this trend and carefully observe what is actually going on and where I wish to position myself in the trend of slow, minimalism and aestheticism.

A few words on what Slow is about for us.

Slow for us describes a quality of being. It is about training the mind to observe which automatic patterns are present and consequently create space to make different choices than we are used to making. Choices that help us grow personally, in life, in relationships with others, in work.

Slow has little to do with individualism and everything to do with connection. It is not about creating trigger safe zones around our individual lives. It is about recognizing our own triggers, recognizing what healthy boundaries are for us and creating space and learning and growing together.

Slow is about holding space, also with unlikeminded people, pausing judgement, listening carefully and cultivating curiosity. This is where growth happens. We don’t need to grow when everything we already believe in is always being confirmed by the people we surround ourselves with.

Slow is about resilience. Bad things happen in everybody’s life. Knowing how to recognise your story and give value to your story is the key to a resilient life. It’s about constantly recreating the narrative of your life.

Slow is about a creative mind. We are all creatures of creation. How can we feed and tap into this powerful source? (to continue in the comments)
