Iām not talking about the details of how many people are going and why you want to go. Those are helpful but the details that make the trip? Theyāre the things that to you are just a passing thing - but they end up becoming this centering moment of your whole trip.
I finalized a trip this week for 2 clients who are getting to experience Mexico City - not just visit it. During our consultation I asked them āBut how do you connect with a place when itās new to you? What is that one thing that just makes you feel like youāve really experienced it?ā Their answer was simple - food. No brainer - we set them up with a cooking class in a localās home, who returned back to Mexico City after years of traveling abroad with her husband who was a diplomatic representative. That passing detail though that I knew we had to work in? They kicked themselves for not doing a street art tour in Barcelona.
So I worked with my partner Journey Mexico (because when I say I have partners, I mean I have partners on the ground), and a street art tour was born. And guess what? Those two activities are two of the things theyāre the most excited for.
When I say experiential travel I donāt mean this massive undertaking - I just mean that quiet way that your mind says āoh wow I get it now. I get why people come hereā and for everyone thatās different. Iād love to help you figure out what that is for you on your next trip - and hereās a secret - itās okay if itās that thing that you feel is too touristy. Because I promise itās still important.
