De Tukker, a sailing cargo vessel with a rich history, was constructed in 1912 as a coastal trader. After decades of service, it underwent a transformation in the 1980s and became a renowned Dutch sail training vessel, providing valuable opportunities for disadvantaged youth until 2012. In 2022, the ship found a new purpose as part of the EcoClipper fleet.

It now embarks on journeys across the North Sea, English Channel, Bay of Biscay, and Baltic Sea, transporting cargo and travellers.

With a capacity of up to 70 cubic meters (or 50-70 tonnes) of cargo, De Tukker offers basic accommodation for 12 travellers and a crew of five. Equipped with a 310 m2 sail, it continues its storied voyage into the future.

It has been a month since we gathered in Torquay to meet the sail cargo ship De Tukker, and to unload our cargo of olive oil which the ship had been carrying on a voyage all the way from the port of Porto in Portugal to Torquay here in the UK.

We are still feeling the magic of the day, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the crew who worked so hard to make this shipment happen.

We are looking forward to many more more voyages with De Tukker in the future.

Last week De Tukker won the Tall Ship Races to Hartlepool 2023. A big congratulations to the crew and the EcoClipper team!
