Apogeo (pronounced A-po-hey-o) Collective is a bed & breakfast safe-haven for travelers of color, LGBTQIA+ travelers, and our allies. It is a collection of bed & breakfast pop-up experiences that started with the inaugural experience offered in Winter 2020 in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Our goal is to provide our guests with a safe space to encourage exploration (of the locale and also within) an

d an open space where guests feel like they can lean into their most authentic and powerful selves to leave feeling inspired, energized, and rejuvenated. As avid travelers (and q***r people of color), we quite often have to make serious considerations when traveling regarding the potential experience of prejudice/racism/homophobia. We are creating spaces for our communities where we don't have to make these considerations. Spaces where we can cultivate joy, balance, rejuvenation and stability- because our communities typically are encouraged to hold these spaces for others but not for ourselves. We know that prioritizing (the access to and the experience of) pleasure is a radical action for an activist! But as a safe container, we are choosing to prioritize the pleasure and needs of the those most impacted by oppression in order to actively model to our communities that WE DESERVE THIS. With Apogeo, our goal is to create the space that travelers in our communities need to rest, experience pleasure, regroup, and leave with rejuvenated energy to bring back to their day-to-day life. We crowdfunded and purchased a flagship location in San Juan Del Sur, so we now have a permanent home! Reach out to inquire about our community pop ups and date availability. If you have the capacity, please share and support our ongoing crowdfunding efforts to finalize renovations, build with local artist activist communities and continue to grow in order to operate full time and provide living wages to our workers.

We’re thrilled to reopen our community scholarship program for our upcoming Active Season. From April 12–22, we’re offering a complimentary stay at Apogeo Guest House in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua— reserved for a Q***r and/or TGNC BIPOC person in our community.

A day at the Guest House is a choose your own adventure. We’re often asked:

“Will I be hanging out with the hosts? How will I spend my days?”
Glad you asked. Let us walk you through it…

You wake up in The Mountain Room. Sunrise is already pouring through your window into the trees. You don’t move. You just watch.

Eventually you make your way to the kitchen for complimentary coffee and take it to your private patio. Mountains. Birds. Zero agenda.

Yesterday was ATVs and a freshwater lagoon. Today? You read in the hammock by the pool until your in-room massage therapist arrives — your complimentary robe already on.

Post-massage, you head to the beach for the whole fried fish platter and fresh watermelon juice. You stay all afternoon watching the waves until the sunset starts. You return to the Guest House to catch the culmination pool side. Best of both worlds.

Evening options: dinner and dancing in town with other guests? Pizza night al fresco? Room service? Delivery? You decide! Then you peel off your swimsuit and slide into the pool — warm as a bathtub from the all-day sun.

Tomorrow there’s an optional creative writing workshop. So tonight you order an herbal THC smoke off the room service menu and head to bed early.

As for Amber and Sara Elise — we’re your innkeepers, not your itinerary. One or both are onsite during Active Season to help with transportation, activities, meals, and the overall energy of the space. Amber often leads offsite tours. Sara Elise occasionally hosts optional workshops.

Think: hosted, not hovered over.
