This is Wing Commander Hajara Bashari, the first Hausa woman from Jigawa State to attain the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force.

Born March 19, 1964 in Kano, she is the daughter of the late Colonel Bashari Umaru. After primary and secondary school in Kano, she trained as a nurse. During nursing school, she joined the Air Force through a medical recruitment drive.

Hajara served in Ibadan, Kaduna, and on peacekeeping duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a medical officer, she focused on the health and welfare of troops. She later became Director of Nursing Services in the NAF and Chief Matron of the Armed Forces Medical Hospital, Kano.

Her resilience and leadership have made her an inspiration to women across Nigeria, especially in the North. She is celebrated as a trailblazer in both military healthcare and female leadership in the armed forces.
