Dr. Afolabi Woos Nigerian Business Community for Djibouti
In order to strengthen the bilateral economic relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Djibouti, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Honorary Consul of Djibouti in Nigeria, recently hosted the Nigerian business community.
The forum was to expose the business and investment opportunities of Djibouti, especially in the logistics industry, to interested Nigerians. The delegation from Djibouti to the event was led by Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, Chairman, Djibouti Ports & Free Trade Zones Authority.
Niger Republic Economic Team Visits Ports & Cargo
Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited recently played host to a high-power delegation of the Government of the Republic of Niger.
The port inspection visit, which was to determine the readiness of Ports & Cargo to handle the Republic of Niger’s transit cargo is part of the bilateral trade agreement between the governments of Nigeria and Niger Republic.
BSMEC, Samsung, Hyundai Restate Commitment to Dockyard Project
Badagry Ship Repair and Maritime Engineering Company (BSMEC), a consortium of five Nigerian companies including SIFAX Logistics & Marine Services Limited, and its technical partners, Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries, have restated their commitment to the development of the ship repair project at Badagry, Lagos.
When completed, the facility will undertake the repairs and maintenance of large vessels and offshore units.
SIFAX Oil and Gas Limited Acquires Refinery Licence
Sifax Group will soon join the league of the major players in the country’s Oil & Gas industry with the acquisition of a refinery licence by SIFAX Oil & Gas Limited.
The licence, issued by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), is for a modular refinery with a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day.
The refinery, which will be sited in Lagos, will not only provide employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians when completed, but also help address the twin problems of fuel scarcity and product importation.
SAHCOL Presents Brand New Toyota Hilux to ANLCA
The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has presented a brand new Toyota Hilux vehicle to the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agent (ANLCA) to assist the association in the effective monitoring and enforcement activities within the Cargo terminal.
While receiving the key to the vehicle from the General Manager, Cargo Services of SAHCOL, Boma Ukwunna, who represented the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Oluropo Owolabi, the Vice Chairman of ANLCA, Murtala Muhammed Airport chapter, Bola Ashiru Balogun, thanked SAHCOL for the gesture and posited that it is the beginning of a new dawn of excellent working relationship between the association and SAHCOL.

SIFAX Compensates Dead Police Officer
SIFAX Group has paid a compensation to the family of a deceased police officer, Corporal Idris Ibrahim, attached to the company, who died early in the year in an auto accident.
A cheque of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500, 000.00) was presented to the widow, Mrs. Doris Ibrahim, while the Ayisat Ajoke Afolabi Foundation (AAAF), financed by SIFAX Group, will take care of the school fees of the deceased’s five children.
SIFAX Ijora Opens Staff Canteen
SIFAX Group office at Ijora has opened a new staff canteen.
The well furnished facility, which has sections for both the management and junior staff, serves well-cooked Nigerian dishes in a very hygienic environment at a very affordable rate.
Operations Resume at Sifax Off-Dock Okota
After a lull that lasted about nine months, activities have resumed at the Sifax Off-Dock, Okota Terminal B.
A total of 155 containers were received by the terminal recently while agents have been taking delivery of their consignments. The business operations there have been seamless.
