Gather around, I have a story to tell you.

Adetunji was excited about his sister's wedding which was in Port Harcourt, and he was finally hitting the road from Lagos after weeks of planning.

He remembered his uncle's horror stories about long hours stuck in traffic due to breakdowns, so he spent the night before double-checking his car. Oil? Good. Tires? Properly inflated. He even packed a small toolkit, just in case.

As he set off, the highway stretched out before him. Adetunji smiled, but remembered those speed limit signs. "Safety first," he told himself, easing his foot off the accelerator. He'd seen too many reckless drivers weaving in and out of lanes. Better to arrive a little later than not at all.

A few hours in, he felt the familiar rumble of hunger. Luckily, he'd planned for that too. Pulling into a designated rest area, he stretched his legs and bought some snacks. He knew driving tired was just as dangerous as driving too fast.

The sun began to dip as Port Harcourt got closer. Adetunji switched on his headlights, careful not to leave his high beams on and blind oncoming drivers.

A few times, slower trucks blocked the way on the two-lane highway. He waited patiently until it was clear, then signaled and overtook safely.

Finally, he saw the twinkling lights of the city. His journey had been long, but thankfully, smooth and safe.

Adetunji's careful planning, his focus on the road, and his respect for the rules had paid off.

As he prepared to celebrate his sister's big day, he knew the real journey wasn't just getting to Port Harcourt, it was getting there the smart way.
