Moving Tips: Moving your potted plants

Do you have potted plants and wish to move them to a new location. You might be moving to a new home or your present home is spacious so you have decided to move them to a space you have secured. Are you a horticulturist, gardener, flower shop or just a plant enthusiast? These tips must just be helpful.

1. Take inventory of the plants moving to the new location.
2. Tag each pot with a number.
3. On the tag write the name of each plant (optional)

4. If you have few potted plants and are 3 feet and below, you can move them yourselves using your pickup truck, SUV or minivan. If moving in a sedan or saloon ensure that the plant fits into the boot of your car(truck) with our bending the stem of the plant.
5. If you have a lot of potted plants with a height above 5feets, it's advisable to move them in a cargo van or truck.
6. You can also hire the services of a moving company specialised in moving plants.

THINGS YOU MUST KNOW

1. Water your plants a day before moving day. Do not water on moving day so you do not wet the car, van or truck.
2. Place your pots in plastic crates or baskets to avoid them from breaking in transit. You can also place them on pallets.
3. For interstate relocation (long-distance) ensure the vehicle has adequate ventilation.

DIY Moving Tips: Packing your Sofa.

When moving your sofa, the material of the sofa is crucial. Your sofa may be Leather or cushion, Single or multiple seaters, straight or L-shaped. Regardless of the texture of the material or the colour of the fabric, proper care must be employed to ensure that the sofa isn't damaged during your move.

In this video, we have an L-shaped sofa that we wrapped.

Step 1:
Separate the L-shaped sofa into 3 separate pieces.

Step 2:
Get your moving blanket and cover one piece at a time. We used 2 blankets per piece. Ensure that the moving blankets completely cover the sofa piece.

Step 3:
Use a Stretch wrap to fasten the moving blanket to the body of the sofa. Ensure you stretch it tight to ensure it is firm. Wrap it from side to side and from top to bottom.

Step 4:
Repeat the process for the other two pieces.
