Mondesa Museum

Mondesa Museum Mondesa Museum is the name of museum that will be established in 2014. The Mondesa Museum will open its doors in 2014.

It about the lives and the creative history of the residence of mondesa and the old location before the 60s. Mondesa is formally known as the black township of Swakopmund in Namibia. 70% of the residence of Swakopmund resite in Mondesa. Mondesa as a colourful history of movers and shakers; ordinary people that made Mondesa for what it is today. Through this page we aim to bring back the pride and

celebrate the rich history of the old lokasie and Mondesa from 50s till present day through arts and documenting that history. We are in the process of research and documentation. Involving young people in that process is very important for the younger generation to appreciate the history of the township. We hope through this page we get the full participation of community as well as our allies and visitors...

Great things, Opening of the Medical museum.

Embassy delegation visited Onandjokwe Medical Museum and Garden at Oniipa, near Ondangwa. The garden is part of Onandjokwe Medical Museum and was officially opened by H.E. Ambassador Anne Saloranta and Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Bernad Haufiku. The garden was established with the cooperation of Museums Association of Namibia and Embassy of Finland.

Visitors can take guided tours in the garden and learn more about traditional healing and the use of medical plants.

After visiting the garden Embassy delegation had meeting with the board members to discuss about the future of the garden and the museums. H.E. Ambassador Saloranta reveived lovely Ovambo dress from the Onandjkwe Medical Museum Curator, Ms. Lucia Hafeni.
