Age 214 million years this rock was named as Cactus Rock.

This rock is the remnants of granitic outcrop, which has undergone weathering and erosion process along parallel-vertical joints, leaving the column-like structure. This rock belongs to Maxwell Hill intrusive which is part of Main Range Pluton. The granitic rocks are source of tin ore (cassiterite) in Taiping and surrounding area.
