Let's congratulate our Dato' Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon 拿督曾家麟博士, PhD (USM), FCILT, FLogM, who has been officially appointed as one of the industry advisors for the Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Consortium (NGGC), which is under the initiative of the Centre for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), to address the green-related challenges and issues.

The ceremony of appointments took place officially at USM on 8 May 2026 (Fri) and was graced by the presence of our NGGC Patron, Dato’ Seri Sr. Hj Rozali Bin Hj Mohamud; and CGSS Director, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Wira Mohd Shafiei, PhD (Leeds).

I'm honoured to have been invited to attend the "International Conference on Leadership in the Service Economy", jointly organised by the National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and the Department of Applied Social Sciences (APSS), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), where I will speak about "Leadership and Effective Talent Management: Fostering Organisational Strategy in Service Industries", which will take place on 5 May 2026 (Tue).

There will be other distinguished international speakers and panellists at the conference, and I can surely learn something great from them. This will also be a lifelong learning session for me.

The conference, by invitation only, will attract more than 150 industry and education leaders, including those from Malaysia, China (including Hong Kong), Singapore, and Australia.

Shipping lines (ocean carriers) work on berthing windows at the respective seaports. Definitely, we need the logistics-trained professionals, so-called professional logisticians, to handle and manage the logistics-related issues.

Shipping lines have no choice but to implement surcharges like WRS, EBS, or ECRS to sustain their shipping services and maintain efficiency for global traders and manufacturers. However, unlike the ocean freight, these surcharges are not permanent and can be lifted if the situation permits.

As you're aware, the ocean freight and surcharges are not uniform or simply standard in accordance with the anti-trust policy.

We, the professional logisticians, anticipate a swift and amicable resolution to the Middle East conflicts, allowing us to return to normal operating costs and supply chains.
