SV Ramble On

SV Ramble On We spent a decade saving our cruising kitty and refitting our 1977 Tayana 37 sailboat. In 2024 we left the dock and headed south.

We are an American couple who decided a few of years ago to leave the easy suburban life behind, buy an old sailboat, and then spend every waking minute and extra dollar fixing it up for the open ocean. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed. To read more about us and the boat, check out our we

We're spending hurricane/lightning season in Marina Chiapas. It's always a little nerve-racking docking the boat, but the Marina Chiapas staff and fellow cruisers made it easy peasy. Thank you Beluga SV for the video.

Missing this little weirdo. I don’t think we ever mentioned that we left Twitchell with family back in Nevada where she’s living a very spoiled life now. The heat and humidity plus the confined space of our boat was making her pretty uncomfortable and grumpy. She’s much happier now but we miss her every day.

The Museo de la Máscara Guerrero had some interesting masks on display and the $0 price of admission was perfectly affordable.

The cliff divers of Acapulco were a sight to see. The walls at La Quebrada (The Ravine) soar to 150’ above the cove below which is only about 12’ deep. The tradition began back in the 1930’s and the divers start practicing from an early age, working their way up to higher and higher levels before reaching the top. Timing is everything….
