In Oaxaca, bioluminescence turns every movement into light.

Touch the water… and it glows.

Like floating between two galaxies.

Best seen on dark, moonless nights.

The darker it gets — the brighter it shines.

✨ What is bioluminescence?

It’s a natural phenomenon in which living organisms emit light.

In Oaxaca’s lagoons, this is mainly caused by microscopic organisms — phytoplankton (dinoflagellates).

🔹️ Inside their cells, a chemical reaction occurs (luciferin + the enzyme luciferase)
🔹️ This reaction produces light without heat
🔹️ The glow is usually blue or turquoise
