Greetings friend and travelers. Welcome to La Mesa. Or The Traveler’s Table (La Mesa de Los Viajeros) a place to share a community meal and meet other travelers, whether they live here in Isla Mujeres or are just visiting for a few days. Everyone is welcome.
This idea was inspired by my most recent experience on the Camino de Santiago in the Fall of last year, when almost nightly I found myself surrounded by new friends and faces, and with limited dining options available before 9PM in 🇪🇸, I often ended up organizing the creation of a meal that my new friends could all enjoy together.
Nightly, we ate well; we laughed hard; and we shared stories from our home countries, as well as stories from that day on the Camino. We left the table feeling more connected to life and humanity, with full bellies and overflowing hearts. 💕
I wish to create a similar space and experience here in Isla Mujeres. So, here, at La Mesa, at this shared table, I will prepare a recipe learned throughout my many travels (97+ and counting 🌎). What I promise is fresh, mostly gluten-and dairy-free food and an eclectic community of faces to share it with.
These “Pop-up Table” happen frequently, so follow along to know what is happening next.
