Cancún International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún) (IATA: CUN, ICAO: MMUN) is located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. It is Mexico's second busiest airport, after Mexico City International Airport, but the biggest for international passengers.[1] In 2014, Cancún airport handled 17,455,353 passengers, a 9.4% increase compared to

2013.[1]

The airport has three commercial terminals. Terminal 1 is used by some low-cost and charter domestic airlines; Terminal 2 is used by all of the scheduled domestic airlines and some international flights; and the new Terminal 3 handles primarily international operations of airlines from the United States and Europe.[2] It has two parallel operative runways that can be used simultaneously. It is a hub for VivaAerobus[3] and Volaris,[4] and currently offers flights to 21 destinations in Mexico and to over 30 countries in North, Central, South America and Europe. The airport has been expanding as it has become the busiest point of entry by air to the country. Terminal 2 was recently expanded in 2014. Expansion of Terminal 3 is expected to conclude by the fourth quarter of 2015. The remodeling should contribute to increase annual capacity to 10 million from the current 6 million. ASUR is in the process of designing the new Terminal 4, scheduled to be ready by 2017. El Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún (Código IATA: CUN - Código OACI: MMUN - Código DGAC: CUN) se encuentra a 16 kilómetros de la ciudad de Cancún, en la costa del Caribe sobre la Península de Yucatán. Es el segundo aeropuerto más transitado de México, sólo después del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México en Ciudad de México, pero el más importante en México y Latinoamérica por pasajeros internacionales. En 2014, el aeropuerto manejó casi 17.5 millones de pasajeros, un incremento cercano al 10% comparado con 2013. El aeropuerto se ha remodelado y expandido para convertirse en el 2° aeropuerto con mayor tráfico del país y el que atiende a más pasajeros internacionales en el país. Cuenta con dos pistas de aterrizaje operativas a más de 1,500 m de separación lo que permite que se usen de manera simultánea y tres terminales comerciales. La Terminal 1 es usada por Vuelos chárter procedentes de América del Norte, incluyendo a las aerolíneas chárter locales. La Terminal 2 es usada por algunas aerolíneas internacionales, así como por todas las aerolíneas nacionales y la nueva Terminal 3 se encarga de la mayoría de las operaciones internacionales de aerolíneas de América del Norte y Europa. El aeropuerto es operado por ASUR al igual que los aeropuertos de Cozumel, Mérida, Veracruz, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, entre otros. El aeropuerto fue un centro de conexiones para Aerocancun, Aladia, Mexicana y MexicanaLink. ASUR anunció la expansión de la Terminal 2 que será terminada en 2014 y de la Terminal 3 que igualmente será expandida después de finalizar la Terminal 2. ASUR también anunció la construcción de un hotel dentro del aeropuerto. El 1 de junio de 2013, la Autoridad Aeroportuaria de México anunció que se construirá una terminal 4 en Cancún. El nuevo proyecto contará con 20 puertas adicionales para el actual aeropuerto 68 de puertas. El 27 de noviembre de 2013 se convierte en el primer aeropuerto en América Latina en recibir al Airbus A380, en el marco de la celebración de los 80 años de Air France y los 15 de ASUR. Al 2014, con 17,455,353 pasajeros es el segundo Aeropuerto más transitado de México.
