Pochos Charters

There's only one Pochos Charters in Cabo San Lucas. Why do we need to post that? Well, we live in a world where scammers thrive unless folks push back against them and expose them. Pochos Charters has been in business in Cabo San Lucas for well over 20 years under the original ownership – having enjoyed great success as a charter fishing operation and as a tournament fishing operation. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery and in our case, we're being "flattered" by a parasite.

There's a fake in town. They call themselves "Pochos Company"... but don't look for their website as it's been suspended. Why? They infringed on our copyrights by using our old logo, copying text content (a great deal word for word!), photos and videos in order to build their website. The original hosting company suspended their site so they moved it to another hosting company - and that company has done the same.

They also had Facebook and Instagram pages (https://www.facebook.com/pochos_company and https://www.instagram.com/pochos_company) - both accounts were removed for impersonating our business along with copyright violations.

But that didn't stop them. They opened two new accounts - https://www.facebook.com/pochoscabocharters and https://www.instagram.com/pochoscabocharters - those two still exist, but not for long. If you were to visit either of those pages, you'd see our old logo blatantly used with just one little change... they added the word "COMPANY" to the logo.

So why are we writing this post? To let you know that if you want to do business with Pochos Charters, make sure you're dealing with the one and only... the original. Not some group of scammers looking to take advantage of you. If you see a website, FB or Instagram account using our old logo, that's not us. Look for our new BLUE logo if you want the REAL Pochos.

We've had several calls from folks that have been taken advantage of, abandoned by or just plain ripped off by these people. We don't want you to be their next victim. Please be wary of scammers and protect yourself, your hard-earned money and your vacation plans by only dealing with reputable charter companies, whether that's Pochos Charters or someone else... just make sure they're the REAL deal.

We let you in on some of our favorite tournaments with lower entry fees and reasonable side jackpots (Calcuttas). We'll even give you a few tips on ways to enter and increase your odds of a big payout!

When it comes time to choose your fishing charter provider, it really pays to do your homework. Why? There's a thing in Cabo, and probably in most fishing hot spots around the world, called "Coyotes" – guys/gals who hang around the marina boardwalk areas hawking "cheap" fishing charters... "practically free" is a common phrase they use. You can't help but avoid them, but avoid them you should.

Pochos Charter boats are at a very busy corner of the marina set right along restaurant row and the public boat launch ramp. It's a great location but it has one significant drawback. It's home to a bunch of Coyotes who often use our boats as part of their pitch to unsuspecting tourists. We don't employ their services. If you run into one that shows you any of our boats and says they can get you a great deal "because the Captain/owner is my family" or " I know the Captain and he just had an unexpected cancellation on the day you'd like to go fishing" – don't fall for their trap. If they aren't on our boats or wearing a Pochos Charters shirt, they aren't our people. Some even have "companies" that use the Pochos name or something close to it, like Pochos Company or Panchos Charters. We do all we can to stop them but they still manage to evade the law and do unsavory stuff.

Be smart. Book with a Charter Fishing provider that has a legitimate website and emails/phone numbers to call so that you can book a charter via their website, by email or on the phone. Doing otherwise could end up costing you big money, end up being a bad day on the water, or worse... any deposit or payment you made to secure your charter ends up gone and the boat that Coyote booked you on isn't there when you show up to go fishing.

We don't get out to surf fish much, and that's a shame. Why? Because of the incredible variety and quality of fish caught from shore when you know what you're doing! Example, this toad of a Snook (aka Robalo) caught by Los Cabos surf fishing guru, Wesley Brough (aka CaboSurfCaster).... congrats on this incredible fish, Wes!

🔥🔥DINO-SNOOK!! On Monday evening I was beyond blessed to hook up to this sea monster! I was not targeting one, nor was I expecting it when I hooked up. It took a giant Savagegear stickbait. Due to being hooked in the gills with 2 giant treble hooks, this was not a catch and release candidate..
We decided to get as good of pictures as we could in the dark (thanks ) and look up the All-Tackle record to see if we might be close...
The current record for Pacific White Snook (Centropomus viridis) is 47 lbs 8oz. As it was late, we buried him under ice and got him to Minervas’s Baja Tackle to the official certified IGFA scale the next morning.
The oficial weight for this PENDING ALL-TACKLE RECORD is 51 lbs 4.8 oz!! Dimensions for this fish are 50” length and 30” girth. If approved this fish will break a 21 year standing record.
I am very excited about this and have been in contact with the IGFA who has now confirmed that it is the correct species. (White Snook)
