Did you know that Malawi, a country with a population of almost 14 million, boasts an impressive network of airports? 🇲🇼
Malawi has a total of 39 airports, serving various regions and communities across the country. What's particularly interesting is the composition of these airports:
1. Paved Runways: ✈️ Malawi has six airports equipped with paved runways. These paved runways are constructed with hard, durable surfaces, such as concrete or asphalt, which allow for smoother takeoffs and landings, making them suitable for larger aircraft.
2. Unpaved Runways: 🛩️ The majority of airports in Malawi, specifically 33 of them, feature unpaved runways. Unpaved runways are typically made of natural materials like grass or dirt. While they may not be as sophisticated as paved runways, they still serve their purpose, especially for smaller aircraft and those operating in more remote areas.
This diverse network of airports is essential for supporting both domestic and international travel within Malawi. It plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation, trade, and tourism, contributing to the country's economic development and connectivity with the rest of the world. 🌍✈️🏞️
