Mongolian introduction
Journey to Mongolia
The following is a brief statement on the necessary documents and related points to note:
1. Citizens of ROC, when leaving the country, should prepare the following works in advance:
(1) Apply for a ROC passport (passport holders must renew their passport if expiry date is less than six months away).
Apply at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Necessary Documents:
1. Application form for the passport.
2. Original Identification Certificate (for verification), a copy of both sides of the I.D. certificate should be pasted on the application form.
3. Two 2 inch photographs taken within the last six months (barefaced, white background, without hat and sunglasses).
4. Valid passport.
5. Male applicants with concerned military documents should have a seal of the Military service stamp in advance.
6. Name-changed passport holders should produce a copy of their household registration.
Application time: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00
Closed on national holidays.
Passport fee: NT$1,200.
Wording days: Passport Application 4 days.
(2) If the application is planning to travel through Beijing, the resident of Taiwan should attain a Mainland travel permit through a legal travel agency or by oneself.
Necessary documents: 1. A copy of the third and fourth page of the Passport. 2. Two 2 inch photographs. 3. A copy of I. D. certificate.
(3) Visas are not required through Seoul, South Korea. For details, please contact the Korean Office in Taiwan for details.
(4) Traveling through Japan, need to apply Japanese entry visa.
2. When the necessary procedures are completed, then apply for a visa to Mongolia. All travelers to Mongolia should carry a valid passport with an entry and exit visa for a smooth journey. The following is the procedure for the Mongolian visa:
(1) Visa at Airport:
After landing at the Ulaanbaatar Airport, apply for visa at Immigration; the necessary documents are: application form, copy of passport, 2 two inch photos and US$ 50 for the visa fee. The content of the application form includes: the purpose of your visit to Mongolia, applicant's English name, passport number, valid date, date of birth, etc. An invitation letter should be obtained from the concerned Mongolia party; if it is for traveling, please contact travel agencies to handle the matter.
(2) Mongolian Embassy in Beijing: Before the establishment of a Mongolian office in Taiwan on February 28, 2003, one convenient application place was at the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing.

The length of the traveler's stay depends on the traveler's valid visa date; the longest visa is one month and a single entry visa without any extensions. A customs declaration should be filled out at the time of entry to Mongolia and should be kept until returning to exit from the country. Mongolian currency Tugrik15,000. (US$13) must be paid for the airport tax at the time of exit.

Time difference: Summer Time saving: one hour faster than Taiwan time.
4. Other items to notice: Travelers entering Mongolia from Mainland China and planning to return to Mainland China, must first go to the Embassy of China in Ulaanbaatar and reapply for a visa to enter China. They must hold a Taiwan Compatriot Certificate (台胞證) and passport. An emergency visa fee is US$42, while the normal procedure takes 3 to 4 days and only costs US$20.
