While the whole world is very cautious about the new Omicron variant of concern, the SAC Minister of Hotels and Tourism and their colleagues are dusting off NLD’s 2020 Myanmar Sustainable Tourism Development Plan, claiming it as their own, and discussing how to build a sustainable tourism sector in Myanmar at this time.
By doing so, they are ignoring three big elephants in the room: 1) it is unsafe to visit Myanmar with daily attacks and unspeakable horrors happening every day, 2) the Omicron variant of concern is spreading worldwide including in Southeast Asia (and Myanmar’s lacking capabilities to identify Omicron due to the lack of genetic sequencing equipment and only few testing samples being collected every day), and 3) the fact that the plan was developed and unveiled by the NLD government.

ကမ္ဘာတဝန်း ကိုဗစ်ဗီဇပြောင်းရောဂါပိုးကြောင့် ခရီးသွားလာမှုကန့်သတ်ထားနေချိန်မှာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ ခရီးသွားလုပ်ငန်း ရေရှည်ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်ရေးအတွက် စီမံကိန်းတစ်ရပ် ရေးဆွဲဆောင်ရွက်ကြဖို့ ဟိုတယ်နှင့်ခရီးသွားလာရေး ဝန်ကြီးဌာန ဝန်ကြီး ဒေါက်တာဌေးအောင်က ပြောကြားလိုက်ပါတယ်။
(ဒီဇင်ဘာ ၁၁ရက်)က ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ “မြန်မာနိုင်ငံခရီးသွားလုပ်ငန်း ရေရှည်ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်ရေး စီမံချက်ရေးဆွဲရေးဆိုင်ရာ အလုပ်ရုံဆွေးနွေးပွဲ” မှာ ၎င်းက ယခုလို ပြောကြားခဲ့တာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
လက်ရှိမှာတော့ ကိုဗစ်ဗီဇာပြောင်း ရောဂါပိုး အိုမီခရွန်ပိုးကို ကမ္ဘာ့နိုင်ငံ ၆၀ ကျော်မှာ တွေ့ရှိထားတာကြောင့် ခရီးသွားလာရေး အစီအစဉ်တွေ ရပ်ဆိုင်းသွားသလို အသွားအလာကန့်သတ်ချက်တွေနဲ့ လေကြောင်းခရီးစဉ်တွေ ပြန်လည် ပိတ်သိမ်းတဲ့အထိ ရှိနေပါတယ်။
