Merzouga! 4-Day Private Tour from Marrakech

Day 1️⃣: Marrakech – Dades Valley (330 km, approximately 7,5 hours)
Meeting at 8:30 AM with our driver-guide who will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech. We will begin our 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, situated at an altitude of 2260 meters above sea level in the Atlas Mountains. During the journey, we will admire spectacular mountain views, colorful landscapes, and numerous Berber villages. In Ouarzazate, we will visit the famous Taourirt Kasbah – one of the most beautiful in Morocco – and the Atlas Studios, known for many Hollywood productions. We will have lunch in the vicinity. Next, we will drive through the vast Skoura palm grove to the Valley of Roses, known for the cultivation of Damask roses, from which precious rosewater is produced. Every year in May, the Rose Festival takes place here, an important event in local culture. We will end the day in the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night in a hotel with a view of the valley.
Day 2️⃣: Dades Valley – Merzouga (270 km, approximately 4,5 hours)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will set off towards the Todra Gorge, passing Berber villages and the palm valley in Tinghir. We will reach the famous Todra Canyon, where rock walls reach 300 meters and attract climbers from all over the world. There will be time for a short walk through the gorge. Then, we continue towards Tinjdad and Touroug for lunch, and afterwards to Erfoud – the gateway to the Sahara. From here, it's just a step to Merzouga and the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. We will embark on camels into the depths of the desert (approximately a 1.5-hour ride) to a nomad camp. Along the way, we will stop to admire the sunset, take photos, and try sandboarding. Upon arrival, we will be greeted with mint tea, followed by dinner, a bonfire, and traditional Berber music. Overnight stay in comfortable tents in the Merzouga desert.
Day 3️⃣: Merzouga – Ouarzazate (370 km, approximately 5,5 hours) For those interested, an early morning wake-up to greet the sunrise on the dunes :) After sunrise and breakfast at the camp, we will return by camel or 4x4 jeep to the starting point, where the driver will be waiting. We travel towards Ouarzazate via Rissani – if we arrive on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), we will visit the local souk. Then, we drive through desert terrains with typical acacia trees for this zone and reach the Draa Valley – the longest river in Morocco. We will stop at several viewpoints. In the afternoon, we will cross the Anti-Atlas mountain range and arrive in Ouarzazate. Free time for lunch and exploring the city. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 4️⃣: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech (190 km, approximately 4,5 hours) After breakfast, we will visit the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou – the most beautiful kasbah in Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for films such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz. Next, we head towards Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, stopping along the way to admire the picturesque landscapes and Berber villages. We will have lunch at a restaurant in the Atlas Mountains. In the afternoon, arrival in Marrakech. This concludes our 4-day tour to Merzouga. A farewell photo and see you on the next adventure!
