Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has just released its priorities for 2026. The message is clear: Canada needs skilled international talent—and has restructured its system to attract them more effectively.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
→ 5 new Express Entry categories targeting physicians, researchers, senior managers, transportation professionals, and engineers
→ Healthcare professionals can obtain an invitation to permanent residence with only ~467 CRS points (compared to 510+ in the general draw)
→ The required 12 months of work experience can now be accumulated with multiple employers (measure in effect since February 2026)
→ Qualified Francophones have access to dedicated draws — the most recent (May 2026) issued 4,500 invitations
