Hidden away in Twickenham you’ll find Strawberry Hill House - a fairytale Gothic Revival villa that honestly looks like it belongs in a fantasy movie 😍

Built in the 18th century by Horace Walpole, this incredible house became one of Britain’s very first examples of Gothic Revival architecture and even helped inspire the Gothic novel movement 🙌

Here’s what i loved:

✨ Beautiful stained glass windows (many pieces were collected from Flanders and the Netherlands
✨ Dreamy turrets and intricate details
✨ The stunning library which was easily one of the highlights
✨ A peaceful spot near the River Thames

Here are a few tips for your next visit:

• 🚆 Take the train from London Waterloo to Strawberry Hill (around 35 minutes)
• 🎟️ Book your tickets online in advance - guided tours are also available
• ☕ Make a morning of it and enjoy brunch or a riverside walk in Twickenham
• 🗓️ Check opening days before visiting as it’s not open every day

Definitely SAVE this for your next London adventure 🇬🇧

The last photo is worth the trip to Istanbul alone 😂🇹🇷

Istanbul is a city you could spend a week exploring but if you only have 24 hours - this is the exact itinerary I would follow:

MORNING
🕌 Blue Mosque – 17th-century mosque known for its six minarets & stunning blue İznik tiles
🕌 Hagia Sophia – originally a church built in 537 AD but is now a mosque. It had an incredible history!

MIDDAY
🛍️ Grand Bazaar – one of the world’s oldest and largest covered markets with thousands of shops
🌶️ Egyptian Bazaar – historic spice market filled with teas, sweets & incredible aromas
🍰 – renowned dessert house established in 1864, famous for Turkish delights and honestly the BEST baklava ever (try the chocolate & walnut!)

AFTERNOON
🌉 Galata Bridge – a very busy bridge over the Golden Horn lined with fishermen, eateries & local life
🗼 Galata Tower – a 14th-century tower offering panoramic views across Istanbul surrounded by a cute neighbourhood filled with cafés and restaurants

EVENING
• 🌇 - Watch the sunset overlooking the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia
• 🍗 - Try the Chicken Testi Kebap - it is slow cooked inside a clay pot and comes with its own performance.

SAVE this for your next visit to Istanbul!

This Gallipoli day trip made me emotional 🇹🇷

As an Aussie who studied military history and worked at the Australian War Memorial for years, visiting Gallipoli had been on my list for as long as I can remember.

Standing there wasn’t just travel - it felt personal ❤️

What I experienced in Gallipoli:

• Beach Cemetery - I teared up standing at John Simpson Kirkpatrick’s grave (Simpson and his donkey), a story I’ve told hundreds of school students.

• ANZAC Cove - looking up at The Sphinx and trying to comprehend the chaos and impossible terrain of the landing.

• Lone Pine - finding James Martin’s name on Panel 65. Just 14 years old. Australia’s youngest known soldier to have fallen.

• Holding a pine cone from the Lone Pine tree 🌲- after walking past the second generation Lone Pine at the Australian War Memorial almost every day for years, this was surreal.

• Walking in the preserved Australian & Turkish trenches at Johnston’s Jolly located just metres apart.

• Quinn’s Post - the trenches were just 6–10m apart. Close enough for the soldiers to hear each.

• Chunuk Bair - peaceful views now, but once the sight of unimaginable loss.

• Reading Kamal Atatürk’s powerful words at the memorial, reminding us that even after unimaginable conflict, there can be respect, compassion and shared humanity - “your sons are now lying in our bosom and are now in peace. After having lost their lives on this land, they have become our sons as well”

If you want to experience this moving history for yourself, I highly recommend the Gallipoli Day Trip from Istanbul with - 18 hours, transport, a guide & lunch - £115 well spent.

This was not sponsored - just a great tour!

SAVE this if Gallipoli is on your list 🤍
