🌕 Happy Vesak Day 🌕
Today, we celebrate the sacred Vesak Festival, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of Lord Buddha. It is a time of reflection, gratitude, compassion, and spiritual awakening.
Vesak reminds us that true happiness comes not from material wealth, but from kindness, wisdom, and a peaceful mind. The teachings of the Buddha encourage us to practice loving-kindness, help those in need, forgive others, and cultivate harmony within ourselves and our communities.

📍 Sigiriya – The Majestic Lion Rock of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains, Sigiriya—also known as the Lion Rock—is one of the most spectacular historical landmarks in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by lush forests and beautiful landscapes, this ancient rock fortress stands as a remarkable example of Sri Lanka’s rich history, architecture, and culture.

Sigiriya was built during the 5th century by King Kashyapa, who transformed this massive rock into a royal palace and fortress. According to historical records, the king chose this location for its natural strength and strategic advantage. At the summit, he built his palace with beautiful gardens, pools, and advanced water systems that were far ahead of their time.

One of the most fascinating features of Sigiriya is the world-famous Sigiriya frescoes, ancient paintings of graceful women often referred to as the “Sigiriya Maidens.” These paintings are admired for their beauty, color, and artistic detail, and they remain one of the finest examples of ancient Sri Lankan art.

Another remarkable feature is the Mirror Wall, a polished wall that once reflected the king’s image as he walked beside it. Over centuries, visitors have written poems and inscriptions on this wall, making it one of the oldest examples of recorded graffiti in the world.

Visitors climbing Sigiriya today pass through the iconic Lion’s Paw entrance, where two massive lion paws carved from stone guard the staircase leading to the top. Although the rest of the lion structure has been lost to time, these giant paws still give visitors a glimpse of the grandeur that once existed here.

At the summit, travelers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding forests, villages, and lakes. Standing on top of Sigiriya feels like stepping back into history while witnessing the incredible creativity and engineering skills of ancient Sri Lanka.
Because of its historical, cultural, and architectural importance, Sigiriya was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. Today, it is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Sri Lanka and a symbol of the island’s proud heritage.

Sigiriya is not just a rock fortress—it is a story of power, art, and history carved into stone. Anyone traveling through Sri Lanka should experience the magic of this extraordinary place at least once in their lifetime. ✨

📍 දඹුල්ල රජමහා විහාරය 🙏

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉතාමත් වැදගත් බෞද්ධ පූජනීය ස්ථානයක් ලෙස සැලකෙන Dambulla Cave Temple හෙවත් දඹුල්ල රජමහා විහාරය, ඉතිහාසය, කලාව හා ආගමික භක්තිය එකට එක්වන අද්භූත ස්ථානයක් ලෙස හැඳින්විය හැක.
මෙය ලෝක උරුමයක් ලෙස UNESCO විසින් 1991 දී ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කළ අතර, වසර 2000කට වැඩි ඉතිහාසයක් ඇති ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශිෂ්ටම ලෙන් විහාර සංකීර්ණය ලෙස ප්‍රසිද්ධය.

ඉතිහාසයට අනුව, King Valagamba රජතුමා අනාගතයෙන් පලා ගොස් මේ ලෙන් තුළ වසර 14ක් පමණ සැඟවී සිටි බව සඳහන් වේ. පසුව ඔහු නැවත රාජ්‍ය බලය ලබාගෙන මේ ස්ථානය විහාරයක් ලෙස සංවර්ධනය කර බෞද්ධ භික්ෂූන්ට පූජා කළ බව කියැවේ.

දඹුල්ල ලෙන් විහාරය ලෙන් පහකින් සමන්විත වන අතර ඒවා තුළ බුදු පිළිම 150කට අධික ප්‍රමාණයක් සහ අතිශය අලංකාර සිතුවම් දැකගත හැක. මෙම සිතුවම් බුද්ධ ජීවිතය, ජාතක කතා සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ඉතිහාසය පෙන්වන වටිනා චිත්‍ර කලාවන් ලෙස සැලකේ.

විශේෂයෙන්ම ලෙන් වල බිත්ති සහ වහලය පුරා පැතිරුණු සිතුවම් දැක්ම, පැරණි ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය චිත්‍ර ශිල්පයේ විශිෂ්ට උදාහරණයක් ලෙස සැලකේ. මෙය දේශීය හා විදේශීය සංචාරකයන්ගේ ආකර්ෂණය දිනාගත් ස්ථානයක් බවට පත්ව ඇත.

දඹුල්ල කඳු මුදුනට යාම සඳහා පියසැරීමක් තිබෙන අතර එය නැගී යන විට අවට පරිසරයේ සුන්දර දර්ශන ද දැකගත හැක. කඳු මුදුනේ සිට බලන විට පුරා Dambulla ප්‍රදේශයේ අලංකාර ස්වභාවික දසුන් හදවත සතුටින් පිරවෙන අත්දැකීමක් ලබා දෙයි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බෞද්ධ උරුමය, ඉතිහාසය සහ සංස්කෘතිය ගැන හදවතින්ම දැනගන්න කැමති කෙනෙකුට දඹුල්ල රජමහා විහාරය අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම යා යුතු ස්ථානයකි.
