Celebrating International Zenra Day with some cute stripes 🥰🦓

Safaris are often about the Big Five; the majestic cats and impressive pachyderms. But for us and on our photo tours it’s very much also about the plains game. The bokkies, the giraffes. And definitely also zebras!! I love them with their cute faces, large ears and funny sounds

🐾 World Animal Day! 🐾

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person? Or do you secretly prefer the true underdog… the hyena? 😉

On our photo tours we encounter them all: from majestic big cats like lions and leopards, to playful pups and curious kitties. And of course, that unforgettable hyena laugh.

So tell us – what would you love most in front of your camera? The power of a lion, the elegance of a leopard, the cheekiness of a jackal or the charm of a serval?

Africa 2026: your choice of two epic photo tours, each an unforgettable adventure!

In April 2026 we’ll be heading out on two very special photo tours, journeys where we take the time to slow down, enjoy nature, and focus on photography.

📍 South Africa | 9 – 17 April 2026
Panorama Route & private concessions

📍 Zimbabwe | 19 – 27 April 2026
Zambezi River • Victoria Falls • Hwange National Park

We travel in small groups, and Marco and I will guide both tours together, so you'll have two professional photographers at your beck and call for photography tips & tricks & talks. That means plenty of personal attention, room for questions, inspiration, and the chance to get the very best out of your photography. Wildlife, landscapes, and - weather permitting - even the African night sky.

Book before the end of November to benefit from our early bird discount :-)

You’ll find more information and the full itinerary via the link in bio. And feel free to send me (Ellen) a DM if you have any questions!

We had stopped on a hill overlooking the valley, enjoying sundowners and capturing silhouettes against the fading light. Just as we settled in, a ranger called over the radio: a male lion had been spotted close by.

Our ranger asked if we wanted to continue enjoying our G&Ts in the setting sun, or make a dash for the lion. Needless to say, within moments everyone was back in the vehicle, G&T in one hand, camera in the other.

By the time we arrived, the sun had almost disappeared. That meant we had to crank up the ISO; in low light, you either need a very very steady hand, or up the ISO to be able to still get a fast enough shutter speed to keep your camera still for the shot. It’s a good reminder that sometimes a stellar photo with a little noise from high ISO is far better than no photo at all!

The magnificent male lion soon emerged from the twilight, walking straight towards us. An unforgettable encounter, and one of those moments where preparation and spontaneity come together!

Tomorrow is World Rhino Day – a day to honour these iconic animals and raise awareness for their protection.

Encountering a rhino in the wild is unforgettable. Sadly, they are also among the most vulnerable species, making every sighting even more special.

On our Zimbabwe photo tour, there’s the unique possibility to walk with rhinos in the company of a specialised ranger. To encounter these magnificent animals on foot is an amazing experience.

One of the things we as visitors to rhino country can do to help is to never share gps-location when we share images of the rhinos we have seen online, and it’s best to wait a bit before posting photos of rhino sightings… Sharing our location or posting images ‘in real time’ makes it easier for poachers to track the rhinos and we certainly don’t want that!

Zimbabwe Fotoreis | April 2026
Zambezi River • Victoria Falls • Hwange National Park

We sometimes get the question: how experienced do I need to be to join your photo tours?

The answer is simple: you don’t need to be an experienced photographer. What matters most is that you enjoy photography, love going on safari, and like traveling with a small group of like-minded people.

Because we travel with small groups (maximum 10 guests in Zimbabwe and 12 in South Africa) there’s plenty of room for personal attention at your own level. Beginners get the chance to learn the basics and receive practical tips they can apply right away. More advanced photographers are encouraged to refine their technique and try out new ideas.

Our tours are hosted by two professional photographers, which means there’s always guidance at your own level close at hand. And one of the best parts? We all share the same passion for photography. Along the way, we learn from each other, inspire one another, and capture wildlife, landscapes, and the night sky together.

Upcoming tours:

9 – 17 April 2026 | South Africa: Panorama Route & private concessions

19 – 27 April 2026 | Zimbabwe: Zambezi River, Victoria Falls & two stunning lodges in Hwange National Park

Curious to join? You’ll find all details via the link in bio.

Aankomende reizen:

9 – 17 april 2026 | Zuid-Afrika: Panorama Route & privé reservaten

19 – 27 april 2026 | Zimbabwe: Zambezi River, Victoria Falls & twee prachtige lodges in Hwange National Park

Such an amazing leopard sightings! We’ve only quickly gone through our images, so I’m sure I’ll have more to post later.

Here I am, posting from the gorgeous jungle of Sri Lanka! It’s our first time visiting this amazing island and we can totally see ourselves coming back for more 🥰

We were going to be in Zimbabwe in March, but due to logistics, we’ve had to postpone our photo trip to March 2026. More on that later; for now we’re busy enjoying the beautiful Sri Lankan jungle, wildlife, food and people!

This image was taken with Nikon Z9; 500mm, shot in Wilpattu National Park. Shout out to our naturalist !
