The Royal Bar & Hotel is a new hotel rooted deeply in the colonial tradition of unpretentious hospitality. Originally an aristocrat’s mansion, it became a British officers’ club before opening to the public as a tavern in 1860. m the front of the building, and the British coat of arms hangs above the main doorway. The entrance is from an open verandah on busy King’s Street into a corridor serving as the reception lobby. There is a ground floor bar that also serves coffee and tea, leading to an open-air courtyard, perfect for relaxing with a drink and a snack in the shade of parasols. A narrow staircase ascends to the first floor where there is a restaurant and gallery for dining. On the second floor, bedrooms share a balcony overlooking the courtyard below.
