We are very proud to announce that the CMA CGM Group CMA CGM GROUP (Official), the world's 3rd largest container shipping company founded by Jacques Saadé in 1978 and led by the Saadé family, was awarded the concession of the Beirut Port container terminal. Operations will begin in 2022 and will last for 10 years, with a $33 million investment plan, an investment that is critically needed, after there's been a lull in activity during recent times.
We were happy to meet with CMA CGM in their tower "La Tour" in Marseille, while there for the Mediterranean Worlds Forum, and to see their work in transforming the city, while reflecting on the future of the port in Beirut. We also had the chance to distribute our Live Love bracelets - which spell out "Mediterranean" in Phoenician; and just like the Phoenicians made it all the way around the Mediterranean, the Saadé family are reaching back for their roots in Lebanon all the way from Marseille.
All that being said, and while we are happy with this positive news, we firmly believe in the importance of justice being served for the victims of the August 4th blast. We will keep pushing for justice, and for the truth.
