How to get from Vientiane to Vang Vieng
Located on the Mekong River border with Thailand. Vientiane is Capital of Laos population about 1 million. Traveler can get to Vientiane from Hanoi by ( Fly and Bus), go from Bangkok by ( fly, bus and train ). Life very slow at Laos and Vientiane also. Got a slogan for who wanna to visit Laos need to know “ Please don’t rush” .
Vang Vieng is a small town located at Vientiane Province about 130km from Vientiane Capital . at Vang Vieng you can do many activities outdoor as Kayaking, Tubing, Moto Boat on Nam Song River or Climbing to the rock , hotair balloon on Sun rise and Sun set or rent Buggy Car ….
How to get from Vientiane to Vang Vieng? Now a day 2022 have 3 best way for traveler to get to Vang Vieng from Vientiane.
1 – Go by Minivan take about 1,5hours (new high way open 2021) you can buy an ticket cost online about 10-12$/ticket. ( don’t go to southern bus station because that local bus station they go old road will take about 4hours but the price same same)
2 – Go by private car or private minivan for big group take about 1,5hours (new high way open 2021) cost about 80$ - 100$/way
3 – Go by Train new railway open 2021 take about 1hour but you have to move 17,5km from Vientiane center to train station and 4km from train station to Vang Vieng center. So total will nearly 2hours . specialy you have to book the train tick before because 95% can’t fully book if you book same day but the company they only sale ticket 2 days before .
So have some advisor for traveler
- With young traveler better go by minivan that cheaper and faster and pick up at hotel at Vientiane and drop off at Vang Vieng center.
- For the older traveler can go by train take a bit longer time and more expensive but will be safer.
