One of the most beautiful temples that remote from Yasodharapura ( Angkor Wat area), called Beng Mealea. This large-scale temple of Beng Mealea was one of the very Hindu temples built in te 12th century in the reign of king who had built Angkor Wat ( king Suryavarman ll )or the ruler of Angkor civilization.
Many people, especially all foreigners asking why this shape temple is all collapsed?
Beng Mealea’s current chaotic state with its collapsed galleries and towers due to the lack maintenance, ignorance, natural and man-made factors especially when Angkor civilization declined and when all cities in Angkor were abandoned.
During the period when Cambodia confronted to the prolonged war for twenty years, many temples inside or outside Angkor region were serving as the military stronghold or military bases and at the meantime, thousands of landmines were planted for the protection or sometime temples have been suffered from the heavy guns or shell that were launched back and forth.
