From Siem Reap’s countryside to West Baray, Ak Yum Temple, and Spean Memay Ancient Bridge, every kilometre brought a new discovery. We enjoyed local coffee, a homemade farmhouse lunch, and the unique tastes of Puok Market.

From Rural Villages to Jungle Ruins: A 75 km Gravel Journey 🚴‍♂️🇰🇭

There’s something magical about exploring Cambodia by gravel bike. Last week’s 75 km ride from Stoung to Prasat Preah Khan of Kampong Svay had a bit of everything. We crossed vibrant local villages, cycled through expansive farmlands and cashew plantations, and enjoyed peaceful local snack stops along the way. The ultimate highlight was arriving at the ancient, remote temples of Prasat Preah Chaktomuk and the great Prasat Preah Khan.

An unforgettable gravel route from Preah Khan of Kampong Svay to Sambor Prei K*k. Today’s ride summary: flying down open red dirt roads, grinding up a jungle hill climb into the villages, refueling on amazing local Khmer grilled chicken, and exploring the towering tree roots of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

There’s something surreal about cycling up Phnom Kulen mountain, leaving the world behind, and finding the River of 1,000 Lingas. These ancient carvings have been blessed by flowing water for centuries, and seeing them in person is pure magic.
