The famous Golden Bridge 🤩

You may not know this, but this attraction is actually located inside of an amusement park called SunWorld ☀️🌏

Whilst we loved seeing the bridge (especially at night when everyone had gone home) and enjoyed our ride up the hill in the cable car (the longest single-wire cable car system in the world!!), we didn’t love the rest of the park…

Aside from an alpine coaster (that had long wait times and shut before we even got to ride it due to rain) and an indoor, multi-level area full of arcade games and some carnival-type rides, the only thing to do here is look.

We are on the fence as to whether we recommend visiting or not since the bridge is so iconic and the views during the (very long) cable car ride are lovely. But tickets are quite pricey for what you get, in our opinion.

Have you been before? Let us know what you think of the park below ⬇️

ARE Y’ALL READY FOR ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE COUNTRIES?! 🇻🇳

Vietnam is in our top 5 fave places we’ve ever visited 🤩

We started our incredible 2.5 week trip on the capital, Saigon (known today as Ho Chi Minh City). This place is as crazy as people say it is 😅 Busy, noisy and chaotic, but we loved every minute!

📍 Various locations…
1. Cafe Apartments
2. View from Saigon Skydeck
3. Ho Chi Minh statue
4. Central Post Office
5. View from the river
6. River cruise
7. War Remnants Museum
8. Independence Palace
9. Tan Dinh Church
10. Notre Dame Cathedral

PICTURE THIS:
You’ve just arrived at your hotel in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam 🇻🇳 after travelling half the day by bus from Cambodia.
You’re relaxing on the bed, planning out your evening activities when you hear a knock at the door.
Assuming it’s the receptionist asking you to complete your accomodation payment, you answer with a polite “hello”.
To your complete surprise, you realise your visitor is actually your mother who has come from Australia to see you.

We are still in shock that Paige’s mum flew from Melbourne to surprise us and even more shocked that she managed to obtain our travel itinerary in disguise of “asking for a friend”.

We spent our time in Saigon exploring with her and made such lovely memories. How lucky were we to have family willing to travel across the world for us 🥹

The capital of Cambodia… Phnom Penh 🇰🇭

Where the sidewalks are useable due to the thousands of parked motorbikes 🏍️😅

The number one thing we would recommend doing whilst in this city is learning about the Cambodian genocide by visiting the Choeung Ek Genocidal Center (Killing Field) and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.

Trigger warning ⚠️ these sites are emotionally heavy but so important in educating people about the horrors that happened in this country less than 50 years ago.

Did you know that Angkor Wat in Cambodia is the largest religious complex in the world?!

It covers over 1.6 million square metres and is home to over 1000 buildings 🤯

Whilst the main temple is beautiful, especially at sunrise (see previous post), there are so many other amazing structures to visit. We spent over 10 hours exploring this complex and walked a record breaking 35,877 steps 😱

Photos 4-6 were taken at Ta Prohm Temple, which was used in the original “Tomb Raider” movie 🤩 Such a cool temple that shows nature reclaiming the area!

Welcome to CAMBODIA 🇰🇭

A country we never expected to visit but one we are very glad we did 🙌🏻

We travelled via bus from Bangkok, Thailand, and got to WALK across the border straight into Cambodia! We’d never done that before and thought it was very cool to enter on foot 😂

Siem Reap was our first stop and we were surprised to learn that USD was used just as much as the local currency (riel) 💵

Another (very pleasant) surprise was how cheap cocktails were. We paid $3-4 AUD per drink (many, many, many times…) 🍹🤪

We spent a day exploring the Phi Phi Islands off the coast of Thailand, not far from Phuket 🏝️

The boat was rocky 🤮 but the views were worth it 😍

PS: You might recognise pics 2 & 3 (Maya Bay) from the movie “The Beach” starring Leo DiCaprio ⭐️
