The HS code used for the product will basically guide if it is regulated or not.

Currently you will be required to pay KES 2,000 for every shipment subject to change.

Personal car importation guidance..

It is actually possible to import your own car. The process is not as complicated as one would imagine. But requires patience and due diligence.

1. Identify a reputable car exporter. Please do your research to avoid being scammed. I recommend JPC Japan since they have Kenyan branch that you can follow up with. There are many more...so check around.

2. Your budget will guide which car you can get. No, you cannot get a Toyota crown with a passo budget 🤣. Shop around in the car yards and online for you to get an idea of how much your dream car goes for. Ask for a tentative landed cost and work with that amount.

3. Importing takes time so if you need a car urgently just walk into a car yard and drive out of it. Approximately 2 months. So k**a unataka kushtua village witches December you should have started the process now 🤣

4. The export companies have websites and if you are able to you can manouvre the auction process,please do. I personally feel like it's complicated so one would rather engage a local company to do that on your behalf.

5. Basically, they keep checking and send you photos of the car and specifications untill you find something you like. Please note, the less the mileage the more expensive the car is. Even locally pay attention to the mileage . Although some dealers tamper with the odometer.

6. Once you find what you are looking for, pay the downpayment and the car is shipped out. You will only get the clearance documents once the whole amount is settled.

7. Once the car is in Mombasa the car takes around 5 working days for clearance. You can opt to drive the car or use a carrier to bring the car to Nairobi.

Landed breakdown;

- Cost of buying the car (FOB)
- Taxes(Local)
- Shipping agent(Local)
- CFS (Container Freight Station)
- Carrier or you can drive down
- Insuarance
