The heartbreaking tragedy in Kiganjo, Thika, should not only be remembered for the lives lost, but also for the lessons it teaches us about the importance of communication, conflict resolution, and seeking help when family disputes arise.
Kamau Kamoko was a plumber—a hardworking man who earned a living through his skills and service to the community. His wife, Phyllis Wambui, was a food vendor in Thika, working daily to provide for her family while serving others through her business. Their young sons, Tallan (6) and Terrence (4), were children with their entire lives ahead of them.
Today, all four are gone.
Their story reminds us that behind every family are real people with dreams, responsibilities, and loved ones who depend on them. When conflicts arise at home, it is important to speak out, seek guidance, involve trusted family members, counselors, religious leaders, or community elders, and pursue peaceful solutions before situations escalate.
No disagreement should be allowed to grow unchecked. Silence can be dangerous, while open dialogue can save lives.
As a community, let us encourage healthy communication, emotional support, and peaceful conflict resolution in our homes. Strong families are built through understanding, patience, and a willingness to seek help when challenges become overwhelming.
Let this tragedy be a reminder that reaching out for help is an act of courage, and that every life is valuable.

To the one who has faced rejection after rejection, remember that being rejected does not mean you are worthless. Sometimes life closes certain doors so that the right one can open at the right time.
To the one carrying silent battles, fighting tears, disappointments, and unanswered questions, know that your struggle is not in vain. Every difficult season teaches strength, patience, and resilience that success alone can never teach.
