Take the train from the airport to Nagoya Station. From Nagoya Station, take the train to Chiryu Station. Transfer there and get off at Toyota-shi Station, then walk about 15 minutes.

[Hydrangea Heaven 💐 : Katahara Onsen Ajisai-no-Sato, Aichi Prefecture]

If you're looking for hydrangeas on a truly breathtaking scale near Nagoya, Katahara Onsen Ajisai-no-Sato in Gamagori City is an absolute must.

The grounds are blanketed with around 50,000 blooms across 120 varieties, spilling down hillsides and wrapping around tranquil ponds — each corner of the garden offering a completely different view.

Climb to the top, and you'll be rewarded with a sweeping panorama: a sea of flowers in every shade of blue, purple, and white, with the coastal town and shimmering ocean stretching out beyond 🌊

Every June, the garden hosts its beloved Hydrangea Festival, where the magic doesn't stop at sunset — after dark, the blooms are bathed in soft light, turning the whole place into something wonderfully dreamlike. ✨ Visit on a lucky evening, and you might even catch fireflies dancing among the flowers.

[A Carpet of Flowers Across the Sky 🌸 : Chausuyama Highlands]

Nestled in the most elevated area of Aichi Prefecture, Chausuyama Highlands puts on one of the region's most breathtaking spring displays.✨

The season peaks from early May through early June, when around 400,000 moss phlox plants burst into bloom across the hillside — a sweeping patchwork of pink, white, and deep rose that has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. 🌸

Scattered among the blooms are playful designs, including heart shapes, that make this a favorite spot for photos.📸

Hop on the lift to take it all in from above, and the hillside reveals itself for what it truly is: a living carpet of flowers stretched across the landscape.

On select evenings, the entire display is lit up after dark, casting the flowers in a completely different and almost dreamlike light.

And thanks to the altitude, even the height of early summer feels refreshingly cool up here — a welcome bonus. 🌿
