Another proud moment for the Philippines 🇵🇭
A Filipino team has emerged as **Champions** in the recently concluded Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition — one of the world’s most prestigious moot court contests focusing on international environmental law. Held annually in Florida, USA, the competition gathers top law schools from across the globe to argue complex environmental disputes before panels of international law experts and practitioners.
This remarkable victory highlights not only legal excellence, but also the advocacy, preparation, and global competitiveness of Filipino law students.
Even more inspiring, this triumph adds to a growing list of achievements by Philippine teams in other international moot court competitions this year — proving that Filipino talent continues to shine on the world stage.
Your dedication and passion inspire the nation. Congratulations to our future legal leaders — you’ve made the Philippines proud once again! ⚖️✨
ATENEO WINS ITS FIRST-EVER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE STETSON INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION
In 2007, Ateneo de Manila University reached the Finals of Stetson for the first time.
Nearly two decades later, Ateneo returns not just to compete, but to win and finally secure its first-ever World Championship at the world’s leading environmental law moot court competition. This marks a defining milestone in the School’s mooting history.
From Southeast Asia to the global stage, the team rose above more than 150 teams, advancing through every round to stand at the very top in Gulfport, Florida.
At the highest level of competition, John Matthew A. Tuazon (3A) was named the #1 Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds, leading a field of over 70 competitors.
The team is composed of Dana Mica Torregosa (4C), John Matthew A. Tuazon (3A), Dorothy Tuazon (2C), and Ralf Michael Borja (1G).
They are coached by Atty. Ian Dominic II Mallillin, Atty. Deanne Marieli Pangan, and Atty. Isabelle Beatriz Ginez.
This victory is built on years of persistence of the teams that came close, on a community that never stopped showing up, and on a school and a nation that believed we could rise to this moment.
This is also for Dean Joey Hofileña, whose belief in this Society never wavered, and whose support continues to inspire us forward.
Ateneo does not just compete on the world stage. It proves it belongs at the very top.
The Ateneo Society of International Law extends its deepest gratitude to the Ateneo Law School, its alumni, residents, and partners for their unwavering support behind this historic achievement.
This is Ateneo’s first Stetson Championship and only the beginning.
One Team. One Dream.
One Big Fight.
