entually became the most important place for bike manufacturing especially when people around the world started using bikes more recreationally. Times are different now.Manufacturing centers are found in other countries while companies in Japan receive their ideas and products massively without any hesitation. Has the Japanese bicycle industry lost not only their production power but imagination as well? We’ve realized that the reason is based on a lack of understanding through consumption. A radically different market can be seen here in Japan if we tap into our roots: make products by our own hands, increase lines on communication, and use the knowledge that we do have. Simworks has begun taking action to change the system against the trend of mass production. Our goal is to give our clients the highest quality of product and in the end life! We think it is necessary in order to guide the next generation. This is what we stand for and this is our passion we’d like to share with you.

アウトドア愛好家でありデザイナーでもあるジェームス・ギブソンは、彼の2つの情熱である「アウトドアとデザイン」を融合させ、日本のさまざまなプロジェクト、アート、クリエイティブな活動やブランドに光を当てている。

「よき人は、よきものをつくる。彼らは本当に意味のあるものづくりに向き合っています」と梨絵さんはオンラインの画面越しにそう語る。

SimWorks USA が拠点をかまえるのは、オレゴン州ポートランド、クリスキング本社のビルの一角。梨絵さんによれば、この辺りは「少し物騒なエリア」らしい。彼女の話し方を聞いていると、日本とアメリカという二つの大陸を行き来して生きてきた痕跡と、複数の文化に馴染んでいることが伝わってくる。

ルーカスB.B.とジェームズ・ギブソンが主催する2日間のバイクパッキングイベント「Trail Walks & Campfire Talks #02」を開催します。静岡県にあるカツオトレイルの一部を走りながら、バイクパッキングの世界に触れ、ギアやスタイルについて学び、自然の中で時間を共有する機会です。ライドに加え、トークやワークショップ、焚き火を囲んだ料理、サウナなど、さまざまな時間を通して、参加者同士の交流やストーリーが生まれていきます。

[WHO BUILDS GOOD BIKES] TANI BUILDS GOOD BIKES!
A series of interviews with the people who build bicycles.
This time, we feature TANI — also known as TANI-FUN — from BLUE LUG Kamiuma ( ).

Among the globally renowned BLUE LUG shops ( ), the Kamiuma location is a particularly special one, handling a many custom‑order bikes. From dream builds to EVERYDAY BIKEs, Tani‑kun, the store manager, takes on many complex full‑custom projects. In this interview, we explore the background of his approach to bike building.

What defines Tani‑kun’s builds is his unique method: he draws inspiration from the culture, community, and connections of the region where each frame or component was created, and then “channels” the intention of the original builder — imagining how they would assemble the bike.
He says that what matters most is conveying the story behind the builders and the bikes he loves, and creating a final product that becomes the customer’s best possible EVERYDAY BIKE.

We’re excited to announce the winners of the “WHO BUILDS GOOD BIKES PRIZE!” from SimWorks Day!

Thank you all for the many entries. The thrill of building your own bike—the choices of parts, the small frustrations, the pride when it comes together, and the urge to keep customizing—adds up into a deep attachment to “your” bike. That process itself is the real joy. From the passionate entries we received, we picked two bikes that really grabbed our hearts.

We often get asked: "Is the CRISPER compressionless?" To put it simply: No, it is a refined coil-type cable.

While "compressionless" cables (straight wire bundles) offer a very stiff feel, they are rigid and difficult to route around front bags or through complex internal frame paths. In contrast, the coil-type structure used in the CRISPER provides exceptional flexibility.

The traditional weakness of coil cables was the "mushy" feel caused by the gaps between coils compressing under pressure. The CRISPER solves this by using a wider coil design, significantly increasing resistance to vertical compression. This allows you to maintain the flexibility of a coil cable while achieving a sharp, direct response—even with V-brakes or mechanical disc brakes.

[Pro Tip] Prep for Peak Performance
Before installation, we recommend letting the CRISPER sit straight for 12 to 24 hours. This removes "initial shrinkage" and minimizes any play or adjustment shifts after the cable is set.

【構造解説】なぜCRISPERは「コイルタイプ」なのか？ - スワイプ画像参照
「CRISPERはコンプレッションレス（縦線束ね構造）ですか？」という質問を多くいただきます。結論から言えば、CRISPERは**「コイルタイプ」**です。

「コンプレッションレス（縦線束ね構造）」はカッチリとしたタッチが得られますが、曲げにくいためフロントバッグを避けたり複雑なフレーム内装の取り回しには向きません。
対してCRISPERが採用する「コイルタイプ」は、螺旋状の構造により圧倒的なしなやかさを誇ります。

コイルタイプの弱点は、ブレーキを強く握った際にコイル同士の隙間が縮み、タッチが「グニョ」っと逃げてしまうことでした。
CRISPERは、コイル素線の幅を通常より広く設計することで、縦方向の圧縮に対する耐性を大幅に向上。コイルの柔軟性を維持したまま、Vブレーキやメカニカルディスクでもシャープでダイレクトな操作感を実現しています。

【Tips】性能を引き出す下準備
CRISPERは、パッケージから出してすぐに取り付けるのではなく、半日から1日ほど真っ直ぐにして放置することをおすすめします。これにより「初期縮み」が取れ、取り付け後のガタつきや調整のズレを最小限に抑えることができます。

We've also designed the "Ronin" to offer more options for handlebar shapes and tire sizes. It can't do everything, but it can do a lot. This is what the "Ronin" is all about as a tool.
