🌿Learning from Japanese Indigo Dyeing and Kendo: Japanese Approach to Enriching Life⛩️
Japan is home to unique concepts such as mottainai and wabi-sabi, ideas that have inspired people worldwide and offered guidance for a more meaningful life. Beyond the now well-known ikigai, many lesser-known Japanese philosophies can still enrich the way we live.
Kendo, the martial art that carries the spirit of Bushidō, is one gateway to this wisdom. Centuries ago, samurai wore indigo-dyed garments beneath their armour, and today modern practitioners continue to train in indigo-dyed uniforms.
What may seem like a simple cultural experience, whether indigo dyeing or practising Kendo, actually holds timeless lessons that can inspire us and offer hints for enriching our own lives.
In this program, you will have a chance to explore the dye works of Nogawa Senshoku Kougyou, a company with a 110-year history, and then experience Kendo while wearing indigo-dyed Kendo uniforms. Through these experiences, you will encounter Japanese etiquette, refined movements, and the spirit of respect toward others, nature, and objects.

Comment from Roger Ong, Editor-in-Chief for Zenbird Media
Our values precede our mindsets, and in turn those mindsets shape our actions. At Zenbird, we recognise the deep links between the lessons in well-being for people and nature inherent in indigo dyeing and kendo, and the values they instil for living better. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from two accomplished sensei and to build both character and values.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask:)
