At Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields, the wind bends the entire valley at once, sometimes breathing, sometimes dancing.

Autumn in Japan is often celebrated in crimson maple leaves, but here, beauty arrives in softer gold.

This is a spot in Hakone that most people miss. Save this post so you don’t forget.

—————— a little about us

We’re two photographers based in Tokyo since 2019, wanting to share the beauty of Japan with travelers around the world.

Planning a trip? We’ve got you covered. Our travel guides cover one week in Tokyo or two weeks across Japan, featuring photography from our years living here.

We’re also launching premium photo prints of the moments we’ve captured along the way — pieces of Japan you can hang on your wall.

And for the travelers and dreamers, we created Japan Destinations bucket list bottles — one for first-timers planning the trip of a lifetime, and one for locals ready to explore the rest of Japan.

All coming soon to Kickstarter. Link in bio for the full story. We’d really love your support!

Some receive the rain not as a burden, but as a gentle applause from the sky.

At Otagi Nenbutsu Temple, even the stone remembers to smile.

Hidden in the hills of Arashiyama, 1,200 statues, each with a unique charm, stand still through every season.

Always fun running into drunk strangers, especially in Japan 🤣

If you’re coming to Tokyo, we made a free 7-day Tokyo guide. Link in bio!

The Hill of the Buddha was designed by legendary architect Tadao Ando. At first, you don’t see the Buddha at all, just a curved concrete tunnel leading you forward. As you walk through, the space slowly opens, and the massive stone Buddha reveals itself at the center, surrounded by sky.

In summer, the hill is covered in lavender. In winter, it’s buried in snow. Same place, completely different feeling.

This is one of the coolest places in Japan and definitely one of the best places to go in Hokkaido, and it’s only 45 minutes from Sapporo.

If you’re visiting Japan, we created a free 7-day travel guide 🇯🇵 You can either comment “guide” and we’ll send it to you, or tap the link in bio.
